for those of you who might remember me, i was the person who sold off his Bose system and was looking for something else. after nearly three agonizing months of research, travelling, auditioning, testing, i finally bought my speakers well within in the $700 range (including taxes, Cad)

this is my system:
Fronts: Sinclair Audio Brighton SB3600T
3 way tower
triple 6.5" Woven Fiberglass Hybrid woofers
1" Polymer Integrated Soft Dome Tweeter
DALtech (Dead as Lead)
bi-wirable
Center: Sinclair Audio BRIGHTON SB250C
dual 5.5" Woven Fiberglass Hybrid woofers
1" Polymer Integrated Soft Dome Tweeter
Rears: since i went over budget, i am useing carspeakers from a 93 plymoth
voyager. (i am a grd 12 student, dont criticize me please. lol)
subwoofer: (This is the only used product from the package)
Velodyne DPS 12.
a 12" velodyne speaks for itself.
Amplifier: I had this from before, will upgrade a couple years later.
Yamaha HTR 5640 @ 75 watts/channel

since the mains are bi-wireable, i hooked up the speaker outputs A and B from the reciever into the speakers, thus giving the fronts 150 watts/channel.

right now, lets just say, i am not only blown away, but have been vaporized by this. though there maybe better systems out there for 700. compared to bose, which i've had for 3 years, this is god like.
i'll post some pics once i figure out how to,

lemme know what you guys think

I would not advise doing this. Also, when surround sound is activated, you will be loosing either the tweeter section or the woofer section because speaker section "B" will be deactivated. You will not get "more power" by bi-amping on a receiver such as that. If you would like a more detailed explanation as to why feel free to ask.:) But as such, running the receiver like this, especially in surround mode, is potentially harmful and may damage your receiver.

It sounds like you have a great start by the way.:D

Seth is right, so go back to single amping the mains. In the future, when you upgrade your receiver will have what is called a C Channel, which is there for bi-amping purposes. Or, go with separate amps.

I would definitely not be ambarrassed about this system, especially considering you are in the 12th grade. Excellent! I know people who live their whole life listening with crappy speakers. A friend of mine has a $3,000 TV, but is running 5 crappy Sony saletites hooked up with his crappy Sony receiver. Your setup kicks serious arse by comparison and this guy is in his 40's. Some people live their whole life listening to poor audio. They just don't get it. You've figured things out early in life and should be commended for it. Good job with doing well with your budget. :)

Man, what an awesome looking system for a 12th grader!

I don't even think I had boom box when I was in 12th grade!:D

I didn't even have tower speakers until last year!

Hey, if you are in toronto, i help you. the store will also give you a good price

I'll say you went over :)....in a great way..What did you give for them and where...
hey, all in all, including the sub, fronts and centers and wires, i paird around 800 with taxes.
the place i bought it from is called tele electronics (just google it and you'll see)
from my experience go to the Scarborough one if you are in toronto. if you want to buy/ audiotion, email me, i'll tell u the sales person to go to.
for the fronts i paid 350 for the pair, and the center i paid 150. i also picked up wires (which i regret because i should have just gone to home depot). so i spend about 550 there. then the rest of the money (250) i bought a second hand velodyne from craigslist.

lemme know

i had to work my but of to get the bose system which was SUCH a bad decision. i bought it thinking it was the best system ever (this was when i was in grade 9 after doing 7 years of newspaper without spending a dime). i always though bose was amazing but when i hooked up everything, there was always something missing. i even bought a better amp at the time ( yahama HTR-5640 - which was better than crappy one i got), but everything sounded dead. finally, i hooked these babies up, and man, who knew just ONE speaker could do sooooo dammmm wellllll.

i know there are better systems up there, but my ear healing process has just begun. once i'm healed (aka have a job after college), i'm gonna upgrade again.

Hey thanks. i worked pretty hard too

I worked construction all summer before 12th. grade to buy my first stereo. I'm glad to see that some young people "get it". Congrats!
after years of work, dedication and commitment to try not to spend as much money as possible, i made enough to buy something that would hurt me rather that help me.

also, about your comment about ppl just dont get it, i agree. even though i dont know much about speakers, HZ to Khz, perfect placements, etc etc, all i know is that i love music (jazz, classical, almost EVERYTHING, i even have some korean songs, and some tamil music i think too ), i love movies, and i love sound. based on that AND my strict budget:eek:, i bought these
once agian, thanks

Seth, as soon as i read your comment, i ran from the second floor, to the basement to quickly unhook the wires from output B:eek:. my god, i dont know how i can thank you:) i never knew that this could be such a big problem. if it helps, i still had those gold/metal plates things on so power could go equally to the tweeter and mid's. :)
but still, thnxs.!!!!!!
saved me from ruining a reciever cause i know i cant afford one for another couple of years.:D
tnxs soo much,

Wow, leaving the Gold connectors on there was even more dangerous. If a connection had come loose power would have been pushed into the amplifier instantly causing damage to the receiver.:( Yeah, don't ever leave the gold connectors on when bi-amping. You got super lucky.:D
