So a few weeks back, I got a notice that my account at Huntington Bank had been overdrawn $60 from speedway. I figured this was just a place holder, as some gas stations will do that.

Turns out it wasn't. So I filed a dispute. The bank eventually came back siding with the station. I didn't really understand, since my card had been deactivated before the charge was made, due to the fact that they had sent out new cards to several customers.

I went down today with the only money I had, $200 exact. The account at the time was at -$221. I figured I could negotiate with them to take off a few fines so I could pay it off in full. Their response was that they could bring it down to $206. The following conversation insued.

Keep in mind, this is after 2 weeks of talking to them politely everyday on the phone. I just couldn't take it anymore.

Idiot Bank Employee: "Well, we can bring it down to $206, is that all you have?"

Me: "Yes, this is all I have, I've told you this several times already"

Bank: "Can you pay the rest off tommorrow"

Me: "Are you even listening to me?"

Bank: "We've been told that we can't waive anymore fines or else we'll be repremanded."

Me: "I'm unemployed and have been struggling to find work. I just had dental work and I have to pay that off. Please work with me here. It boggles my mind that you will be punished for making a profit, unless what you're saying is a bunch of crap."

Bank: "Excuse me?"

Me: "I was told that you would be able to work something out. A better offer than what was given to me by another employee over the phone, or was that a lie?"

Bank: "Sir we.."

Me: "Do you think I'm an idiot? I've had enough of this place, and I'm sick of dealing with things like this on a regular basis. Why would I deposit $200, only to continue to receive fines everday? I'll take my business else where, good day"

Sigh...

I had a bad run-in with my bank also... the teller gave me the wrong account number (someone elses, to be exact)... and this was the account number I put on my tax refund for direct deposit!!!

I ended up calling the main branch, and talked to some lady that was - terrible.

Me: "Yeah, you guys gave me the wrong account number, and I filed my taxes with said number."

Lady "There's nothing we can do."

Me: "It kind of makes me want to switch to another bank, if you guys are this nonchalant about MY money that I need!"

Lady: "Yeah, I've been thinking about taking my money out of this bank, too."

Me: "You know, that's not something an account holder wants to hear."

Lady: "Well I've had a bad day." (It's 8AM)

Me: "Is there anyone else I can talk to? This is f****** ridiculous."

Lady: "I don't need to hear that kind of language."

Me: "Well then figure something out... you guys are the cause of this mistake."

Lady: "There really is nothing we can do."

Me: "Is there anyone else I can talk to?"

Lady: "Hold for a moment please."

I am on hold, she comes back.

Lady: "Apparently, there is something we can do. We will take care of this for you."

Me: "Well don't you feel like a stupid b****?"

Lady: "Yes, and I apologize."

Me: "I still want to talk to someone else, about YOU."

I finally got it all sorted out, needless to say --- I don't use that bank anymore.

Thats disgustingly inappropriate. I know situations like that get very frustrating, but sometimes simple humanity is the best policy. No chance in hell I help you out even if I could if you ever treated me like that. Thats just not fair. For the life of me I cant figure out why some people think its okay to be rude to customer service personnel. Its very cowardly knowing that they typically cant fight back. I cant believe you called her that.. you should seriously be ashamed of yourself.

Anyway... sorry about your situation OP... best of luck...

I worked in computer customer service for 2 years, and I have had worse...

While I realize that I shouldn't have sworn at her, that conversation was just the end of it. The entire situation involved nearly four phone calls, the entire time I was friendly. By the time I got to that call, I was at the end of my rope.

I mean --- when $2000 of your money is about to be deposited into someone elses account, you really start to get frustrated.

A few weeks back I got my CC statement and it says they never recieved my last payment. I'm like WTF? So I call them up and it turns out they had recieved my check but since the teller entered the wrong bank number it says my account is closed. So they tack on a return check fine and late fee. So after talking with customer service who admits it is their mistake, says they will take care of everything. Meanwhile an order I placed on Amazon doesnt go through, because my account has been suspended. So i call them and ask them why my account is suspended and they say, becasue they never recieved my payment. So I explain again that I did mail them the check and it was their fault they entered the wrong bank account, they tell me there is nothing they can do, till they recieve my latest payment including last months payment.

At this point I just friggin lost it. I told them I have been with them for 15 years, have never been late and have always paid my account in full each month doesnt that count for anything. They say, nope and are very rude about it. So I said because of their stupidity and not working with a card holder with fantastic credit, that they are losing me as a customer and they couldn't care less. BTW when I talked to a supervisor he put me on hold and never ever got back with me (on hold for over an hour)

When you are going to direct deposit any sum of money you make damn sure the account number is correct. It's printed on your checks and every statement you receive - there is no need to ever ask a teller for your own account number.

I have not been to a bank in 15 years or so but my Wife works at one. She said they can waive any fee but it is up to each rep. If the customer is nice and friendly, they always waive the fees, if the are rude, they look for more fees to add on.

Hey, you catch more bees with honey....

PardigmDawg, that's not right, if the bank is at fault, they should admit their mistake and delete any fees, not try and find fees to add, because the customer is pissed at a mistake the bank made. If the bank made the mistake, they should be bending over backward to make things right, not punishing the custoner because of somebody else's fault. Rule one of good customer service, "the customer is always right."

We're currently looking into a variable mortgage rate because our current mortgage is at 5.24% and the variable rate as of today is 3.05%. However we were told that any restructuring to our current mortgage we'd be subjected to a $7062.00 penalty...but at the end of the term, we'd be ahead a few G's..... I hate Banks and Insurance companies equally and today only helped to reassured my feeling.

Regards, Bill:) oh.. BTW how did the date work out:D?

The bank sided with the station? Seriously? Did you actually have a $60 charge?

What kind of bank are in business with man? I suggest you switch the Wells Fargo they've never screwed me over once. They even waived fees for me when my paycheck got held. Though I must ask. Did you go in with a smile, concern and soft voice or did you go in guns a blazing.

I suggest you go to a different branch tomorrow. Try the cordial approach and if it's no working then just walk out hanging your head.

This is the way I'm headed too. I'm not dealing with creditors again if I can help it. I will work hard to save and pay for things in cash.

Credit is all a scheme to trap you into financial slavery.

Run, run for your lives.

I will make this suggestion. Get an envelope for every part of your budget and pay in cash for everything. Then no one can do crap too you.

I bet the bank is in trouble. Otherwise they would have dropped the charge.

I just got off the phone with a customer service representative. They said all that I need to do is deposit the $200 that I have, and they will waive the rest of the fees...

WHY COULDNT THEY DO THAT AT THE BRANCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sat in the empty building for 40 minutes while the employees talked to their friends on the phone. They told me nothing else could be done.

This customer service rep. just worked something out with me in less than 10 seconds.

I though nothing else could be done. What a crock. I'm done with this place.
