Great Lounge in Milwaukee

I went out with a few friends the other night, one of which suggested that we go to Bryant's. I was skeptical but I agreed to go.

This was by far the coolest bar/lounge I have been to in Milwaukee to date, and one of the coolest bars I have been to anywhere. The service was incredible and the bartender top notch.

Definitely worth a peak if you are in the Milwaukee area *cough* Warp *cough*.

They have all McIntosh gear and it really sounds great!

All McIntosh?!

I've been in a lot of lounges before, and never one with a McIntosh system.

Can you snap some pictures? I'm really interesting.

Can you imagine what drinks cost to even try to recoop part of the McIntosh cost. McIntosh has always been my "dream" equipment.

Okay first round is on me ;)

I'm sure you are but it's not a gay bar. :D
Haha, that was a pretty bad typo!

Well, not that I pay it, but, going rate for a trendy lounge in a metropolitan area is like 20 bucks for a drink on the rocks or mixed. Wine is like 2-3x the liquor store price. Plus some places have a minimum for a table.

Lots of expensive soundsystems too. DynaCord, Funktion One, Myersound ... that are perhaps more conductive to filling a large room. McIntosh is awesome, but I can't imagine trying to fill a large space with sound at 86-88db w @ 1m. Maybe its a smaller lounge... that's why I was interested in the pics, just to see the space and how they have the system setup.

Do you know if Wolski's still has their Mac system? That place always had a great sound and the speakers were all Phillips components in octagonal cabinets. Textile dome mids and AD-162 polycarb dome tweeters. They may have switched to the AD-163 soft domes but I haven't been there in years.

The last time I went to Bryant's was in about '78 and I don't remember.

Yeah the lower floor is all McIntosh. Looked like Amp and Pre, with....10 speakers, all McIntosh. It sounded very nice.

So thats why the bartender was giving me that....endearing look. :)

Actually thats one of the first questions I asked as the drinks were not that bad..$15 for a Makers Old Fashioned from what I remember.

I inquired stating that there is no way that they can make money on the place and the bartender agreed....apparently its an old prohibition bar and rather a traditional thing. But I guess the place gets really packed a little later, I was there very early (from 6:00PM till 7:30PM from what I remember).

Never been to Wolski's as I am rather new to Milwaukee. I may have to check it out sometime....I love going to new places.

$15 a drink, hmm, I'll stick with my $5 pitchers of coors light. Or the $1 pints at the local microbrewery.

Yeah then this is not the place for you. More geared to people that enjoy a good scotch and a cigar. It was rather humorous because right after we walked in there was a guy that walked up to the bar and asked if they sold pitchers....hahahaha.

Funny that you mention it we went to the Horny Goat Brewery immediately after Bryant's and I hated it. But they had $3 pitchers...of terrible beer. I'll take quality over quantity ANY day.

A pitcher of beer is like watered down panther piss but if payday is tomorrow and you're paying with quarters ...

Dude.... cool place... gunna head down there this week if I can...

I love places like this... do you know when they have live music...? Didn't see a schedule on the website...

This certainly has my attention...

Mai Tai:

Not the Beachcomber’s original recipe, but we have been serving our 6 layer Mai Tai for over 40 years. This is not the juicy concoction you find elsewhere! This layered drink is so strong, there is a two drink maximum.

Completely reminds me of my Chocolate Martini... affectionately referred to as the "Leg Spreader" :D

I'm not sure when they have live music.

And yes there drinks are the real deal. The bartender said they have the only 3 tier rail in Milwaukee too.

Three tiers? For what? Standing, sitting and on the floor?

I guess I'm confused a bit, what is a 3 tier rail....

Does that mean you get your choice - any liquor you want at rail prices... Kettle one and cranberry...? same price...
