Got Trouble in River City ?

SITUATION:
Refurb DENON X4500H AVR bought from A4L in Oct 2020.
A couple of days ago the AVR's eARC HDMI output just up and quit.
- Did all the cable and output swaps/checks and resets needed to confirm the failure.

The only function eARC was providing is OTA digital audio back to the AVR.
All other sources (Oppo, FireStick) are hooked directly into the AVR.

Moved AVR HDMI to Monitor 1 output and re-cabled TV-to-AVR audio with an Optical cable.

As far as I can figure, I have lost no capability since OTA audio max's out at DD 5.1. The Denon has kicked rear in all other respects.

QUESTION:
Out of warranty, so do I:
1) Press on as is until supply chain recovers or Monitor 1 fails
2) Bite the bullet and send off now for repair

Thoughts?
Cheers,

Yesterday Denon diagnosed my issues as a faulty ARC switch and asked me to send the unit in under warranty.
I won’t because I don’t have confidence in their diagnosis, it’s the third time they defaulted to send it in.

That is a difficult one. It could be that it is the HDMI socket that is damaged. The HDMI socket is a lousy design. The contacts are small and frail, and there is no strain relief in the design. So heavy cables, and torque due to twisted cables, can cause these issues.

These days, the sockets are fixed to the board, so it will probably require a new HDMI board, whatever the problem.

Before you send it in, I would make sure a new HDMI board is available, or you will have a long wait.

Thanks to all for the help.
I will stick with what I have until the supply chain is in a better place.

A long music/movie outage ICW Covid limited live options is a step too far.
