Just got the new 54in Panasonic plasma today over the Samsung LCD...
There is a break in of 200hrs. Can I start playing my PS3 Games on it right now. Or should I wait......

Congrats on the new TV! Which model did you get?

I have the 50" G10 and love it. I used the break-in images linked here (click on the Free Download Available In 3 Formats! link on the lower right) based upon the recommendations from some of the folks on this forum. I put the images (the 8KB file) on to an SD memory card and then ran a slide show on the TV. That was a lot easier for me than making a DVD and playing it for hours. Those images are intended to provide a uniform break-in on all pixels, and you can run the slide show (or DVD) while you're not around.

The experts can give you the best approach, but I'll say that I started watching television programs as soon as I got the TV. I didn't wait until I had gone through the break-in images for a set number of hours. I don't think that I have any negative effects from that. Just don't leave static images on the screen for a long time (like TV station logos or game icons), and you shouldn't have a problem. That's my thinking, anyways.

You got the TC-P54S1 for $1100? That's awesome! From what I've read, the S1 and G10 are pretty much the same image quality. That's a great price.

So you decided on the Panny TCP54S1, well so did I...:). Mine will arrive Tuesday. Adam basically answered all your question...however I decided on burning a DVD from that link as it was fast and easy. I'll run the test patterns at night before bed and any viewing I do in the meantime would use moderate to low facotry settings. Just ensure there are no black bars displayed while you're viewing anything and good luck....Bill.:)

Couldn't pass up the deal on this one. I still think the Samsung looked better in the store. Panasonic Plasma fits my need better however.
