I landed some Boston HD 10 (HD10, HD-10) "bookshelf" speakers at... I am not even going to say it anymore.
Anyway, the surrounds (foam) are completely intact. The driver complement is a 1" tweeter, 6.5" mid-bass, and a 10" passive driver. Power rating 150 watts @ 8 ohms, 90 dB/1watt/1meter.
I like the sound of them. They don't come off as shrill as the BIC towers I have and the bass is very tight/controlled. They don't go as low as the BICs but they do have something going on and that makes my feel happy about my purchase.
They are categorized as floorstanding, but they are too tall for typical speaker stands, and two short to be on the floor. Right now I have them sitting on another pair of non-working Pioneer CS88 speakers turned on their sides, and that puts them at a pretty appropriate level. The soundstage quite well. I basically set them up in less than 5 minutes and was on to enjoying the sound.
This is a little change in pace as I have not purchased many speakers lately (at least not ones I wanted to listen too like those Bose I resold). I need to take a break from receivers and amplifiers and get my room acoustics addressed and start saving for some great speakers.
