Got my Behringer EP2000 and now I need RCA to XLR

So I finally received my EP2000 at the price of a 1500 because I ordered the 1500, they were out of stock and the 1500 is discontinued so they offered me the 2000 for the same price. Yay!

Anyway, hooked it up. I have my Beresford TC-7520 DAC pumping to it. I set the gains low, about 10 oclock. Sounds nice, but I need more. I push the gains to 12 o'clock. Better. Then I check the volume control on my Beresford and find that it is at nearly 3 o'clock. When previously connected to my consumer amp, 3 o'clock on the beresford was very very loud. Almost maximum. Not so with my Behringer:(

I do like the sound of the amp, though. Very much. It's definitely got class wrapped up in its rugged, power to the people chassis:D I feel a strong sense of 3D and a smooth frequency response.

Oh, and I did the fan mod....IMMEDIATELY. No way I was going to live with that stock fan.

So I push the EP2000 gains to maximum. Very nice, more volume, but the music is not hitting me hard at all. When connected to my less powerful consumer Yamaha AX-596, the music definitely hit me harder.

So I give in. I have to get one of those RCA to XLR converter boxes. Wmax mentioned the S-Convert and Art CleanBox (not V2). I noticed that there is now and Art Cleanbox pro.

Which one to get? The cleanbox pro or the S-convert? All I want is to match my consumer level Beresford DAC output to the input of my new Behringer EP2000. I want to get the device that offers the best quality, and of course offer full dynamics. I don't care about features, plug n play etc. Just sound quality, PERIOD.

Which one's better?

Thanks

It's only fair they sell the EP2000 for the same price as the EP1500, it's the same amplifier. The EP3000 is the same as the EP2500 as well.

Could you elaborate as to why you believe that the S-Convert is better?

Thanks

Better? What does that mean?

The Samson S-Convert is needed in most cases to properly use consumer pre-amp sources with pro amplifiers. It is a line level converter, that changes the low voltage consumer signal to the higher voltage professional level. It has RCA and XLR inputs and outputs on both sides and an adjustable gain to precisely match the systems.

And the Art Cleanbox has the same capability, no? I was wondering what the differences could be that wouldn't be borne out by viewing the pdf manuals or judging from the technical specifications alone.

What connections are you currently using – RCA to 1/4” TS, or RCA to XLR?

RCA to 1/4...but it shouldn't make a difference as far as I can tell from the manual. If I was using RCA to XLR, since both of these connections are un-balanced they get treated the same way.
