I have a couple ideas. I think, not sure, but I think that if you are still using the coax connection, the menu options are not in effect, i.e. you are not outputting 720p via coax. You may be better off going back to the HDMI and experimenting with the output settings 1080i, 480p etc. and letting your TV handle some of the scaling.

The problem may very well lie with a poor signal and not with the 6416 at all. That's why I suggest going into the configuration page and checking your signal strength and gain.

Finally, I have had no signal loss or interruption on my current satellite setup with all the snow and rain we've had this winter. It may prove to be a valuable option if the cable provider is sending a poor signal that cannot be fixed.

ive found s video to work better than hdmi for sd, with my cable service over hdmi, but as a conveince i still use hdmi, and with locals all sd id through the ota, which is far superior to cable or sat. My display does a nice job with sd over cable, but ive found myself not watching poor pq chanels.
Interesting............not sure if my LCD will allow me to connect both cable tv and ota channels. I could use a splitter and see what happens. But, how would that work if I am using my dvr which changes all the channels via the dvr? I believe my LCD is on CH3 or CH4 while using the dvr. This may not be possible but not really sure.

Thanks Dave for all of your help. The installer tried his best to see if he could change settings but to no avail. He could get to different menus but none had any way to make some changes. There was nothing high-lighted such as a cursor, and etc. But, I will try to experiment around some more when I get the time. Heck, it is free for 30 days so I do have a bit of time. My area has had so much rain that the sat thing scares me. Just to put it into perspective, we got an entire month of rain in ONLY a day and a half. Does not sound bad eh? The sad part is that it happened on the 4th and 5th of April. We have had mostly rain since then too which means we will be way above out typical rainfall amount yet again. In other words, the rain has become much more of the NORM as opposed to the exception. In fact, we will get a couple days of decent weather then a week of cold, rainy weather which is becoming more and more severe. However, it may be worth a try down the road.
