Got a new subwoofer.

Hello,

After much time, I bit the bullet and bought a new subwoofer. Well, I didn't really bite a bullet as it wasn't very expensive (compared to some other people).

I bought an Athena AS-P400 subwoofer off a member from this forum. At first I didn't know what to expect. I have only heard a couple of their speakers and their newer subs.

I must say, this thing blew me away. Clean, powerful output. It is a way better subwoofer then my other sub. Very nice build on it too. Easy to use front volume level and crossover knobs. Its a front ported design and its very clean. My last subwoofer wasn't to bad but this is a huge improvement as far as THD goes.

I will be posting a review once complete as this subwoofer has very little as far as reviews go.

I had a bit of time to play around but I'm still getting it dialed in.

Heres some pics.

Thanks,

I just started the review. Finished up to setup, and I will begin my Music, Movie, and sine wave sections tomorrow. Hopefully finished tomorrow(today) or a day after.

I know audioholics reviews take years(or seems like :p ) but I have lots of time on my hands.

Sheep - nice sub. It's HUGE compared to your Energy. I know that Athena sub has a ton of power, and can "walk" it's way around a room.

Is that sub in the first photo on the left part of a Logitech X5500 - the 10"? How do you like that for pc?

Is that a concrete floor in your family room, or is that a basement? Acoustics must be tough, especially with the walls. The A/V stand is cool - very industrial looking.

Its louder and deeper. By alot.

My energy was great in my old 8x10 room. But once I moved into my new 12x16 room it lost its charm. Its 1500cubic feet, which isn't alot by todays standards, but she just couldn't please me anymore....Maybe i shoudn't have called it "she"

The review is coming along nicely. I didn't work on it today though, as I slept instead. This coming day, I will do music and movie stuff and finish it off. Its actually turing into a very long review. I hope my humor will keep it interesting.

Thanks buck,

The Athena is alot bigger. I was suprised by its size. From what I've heard, it keeps up with my mians to the volume level I like to watch movies at.

The silver sub is my Z2200's sub. Its an 8inch 120wrms, 240 peak. its only 2.1 but it really draws you into games. For music, I EQ the heck out of it as I hate brightness.

Yes its a concrete floor in my parents basement:rolleyes: . Its bright without the carpet, but it helps bass response. The walls are laughin  plaster boards and they have a very ugly plaster design on them. If I am still living here when we reno I will post pics for sure. We started a reno in the room next to mine (same size) and there was a tonne of plaster that came out of it. Literally a tonne. Every wall had double patster board.

Yeah I really like the stand. Very solid and goes with the TV well.
