Got a bonus - need speakers

Yeah! We got a bonus today that is more than last year's (paid for a pizza). So now I can look at speaker upgrades!

I'll be running these from a Yamaha RX-V657. My existing sub is a Pioneer S-W105. My existing center is a KLH hence I'm looking to upgrade. Left & Right are old AAL 3600B's.

My options:
1. Run 3.1 by upgrading left-right to Klipsch RF-52s and an RC-52 Center, use existing sub. Would put me at about $1000 which is about as much as I could go for budget due to the boss wanting to go worship at the alter of the mouse in Orlando.

2. Someone is offering to sell a used Infinity 5.1 setup consisting of P250 towers, C25 center, P150 rears, and matching sub for between $400 & $500.

3. ???

As for the room, it has a 17 foot flat ceiling, TV on one end and couch on other. When seated, the fireplace (brick floor to ceiling & centered on wall) is on the right along with 8 windows (up to ceiling as well). On the left is an upstairs balcony that juts into the room about 5 feet. Base floor is 18ft x 18ft.

So...I am sorely tempted by the Infinity setup as it would be balanced and get me back to a nice 5.1 system for a good price.

Questions? Comments? Snide remarks?

If you can, include something for the acoustics. You have two room dimensions that are the same and the third is almost the same, which means you'll have a monstrous standing wave at 32Hz. This is great if your sub and speakers can't produce this frequency but not if they can. Look into bass traps- they may save your sanity.

I have Klipsch RF-5s and love them. Go listen to Klipsch and see if you like them

If you get this you'll have enough left over for for a pair of P360 or P362 towers and a matching sub to make it a 7.2 system almost like yours truly. :)

Was it the 10" or 12" sub?

Snide remarks?
Are you really going out dressed like that? :D

Some more additional information. I have compared the Klipsch vs. Polk and came away as a clear Klipsch victory according to my ears.

I've been wondering about adding a wall treatment up high on the wall behind the entertainment center. I'll have to do a search on the forums for info on that. My existing sub can get down to 30 Hz so that 32 Hz mark is totally possible.

I have seen a lot about SVS speakers on the forum. Any thoughts about a nice 5.1 system from them?

As for the size of the sub in the Infinity system, I'll have to check with the guy selling it. I had been leaning towards the Klipsch, but now I'm almost going the other way and interesting in putting the left over money into something else like a wall treatment or something else.

Actually, I was browsing the classifieds on here and a guy is sell mint RF-3s with a RC-3 for $750. That is a very good deal imo and you could even get bookshelfs to make it a 5.1 or spend the extra $250 on a subwoofer.

I'm the guy offering the Infinity option. The sub is the 12".

If I remember correctly I think I offered the whole 5.1 set for $425 or $450. It would be local pickup, so no additional shipping costs. I thought that was a fair price. If I'm way off send me a PM and let me know.
