I’m kind of surprised there isn’t a thread about this yet. I must say, I really loved this album when I got it. The blending of rock, hip-hop, rap, classical, techno…all in perfect harmony. What could be better than this? Why a DVD of the album being done live!
There are two versions of the concert, one filmed at the Apollo (which airs sometimes on MTV HD) and one filmed in Manchester England which can be had on DVD. Each has a slightly different flavor - The Manchester show has a kids choir come out for a great rendition of “Dirty Harry“, and the Apollo show has Dennis Hopper doing an on stage reading of “Fire Coming Out of the Monkey’s Head”. Each show has a small orchestra on stage, as well as choirs which come & go, a DJ, percussionist...and so on. A basic stage setup, the band is back lit & silhouetted throughout except when the lead singer comes out for a song called “Hong Kong” which isn’t on the album. There are also guest appearances from several well known artists that appear on the album.
All in all if you Like the Gorillaz, you will really dig this DVD
