Good multi-disc DVD changer?

Hey guys, been a while, hasn't it? I've been dabbling in the Rush forums lately (counterparts message boards.) I am looking for a good and relatively inexpensive DVD changer. I was going to go for Denon but..whew, those are mucho-grande! I was thinking at the most $200. 5-disc carousel, if possible. No Sony though, hate them.

I also have a question about my receiver. I will turn the volume down very fast using the knob and the volume will not change very much, or go backwards, like -53, -54, -55, -54, -52...etc. Anyone else experience this with their AVR's? It shouldn't do this as of it is only...what...two years old. It doesn't do it though if I turn it down slowly, which is not always desirable.

Also, would it be possible to get one that plays DVD-A's at that price point?

Panasonic had or has 5 disc DVD-Audio players. They are slim-line as well so pretty easy to find a place on the rack or entertainment center. My only beef, I had one and it was broken out of the box.:( Consumer reports says Panasonic is one of the most reliable mass manufacturers of home audio and video products.

That's funny because Panasonic was at the bottom of the pile 20-30 years ago. And before that they were one of the japanese pioneers of electronics with a very good reputation. I was surprised to see that they were even making home AV products when I got back into it this year.

OK since I finally got it working right (my fault) I can now highly recommend the Denon DVD 1930 universal player. It does CD, DVD-A, SACD and a bunch of others with a price new of $345 BUT, Dakmart has some listed as factory refurbs WITH factory 90 day warranty AND a Dakmart 1 year plan for only $216. It's got all the goodies including HDMI and Burr Brown DAC's and I would snag one quick if I were you. It's a great sounding player with very crisp video from what I can tell.

Ahemm... :)

If you want a DVD changer that will play DVD-A too, Panasonic (as Seth said), and Yamaha are just about the only options that I can think of in your price range. Onkyo had a model that would play DVD-A, but it's out of production (it can still be found on-line though, model number DV-CP802), Toshiba had a universal player too, but it had baaaaaad reliability.

I would second the recommendation for panasonic. I have the dvd-f87k changer and have been pleased with it. It supports DVD-Audio and is available for just over $100. For a budget DVD changer, it has been great.

don't go with the yamaha, very slow with every aspect of the machine it will drive you crazy. I had the onkyo which was much better.

DVD-C750 will do almost all of that, except for up-scaling to 1080p, however, I would advise to not bother with 1080p up scaling; the reason being that your TV will be doing the up scaling anyway, and if your TV isn’t 1080 native, the picture from the DVD will have been scaled twice (once by the DVD player, than again by the TV to its own native resolution), which has the possibility of making a picture that is less than its full potential allows.

But yes, it is fairly slow.

You can still pick up a Denon DVM 2815 multidisc DVD player for around $200 and it also plays DVD Audio. Probably the strongest performer suggested with the features you want.
