I think it's a little harder to find excellent live shows on DVD with featured jazz or blues. There are some: a Montreal Jazz Festival DVD by Diana Krall and an excellent old live show from the El Macambo Lounge by Stevie Ray Vaughn quickly come to mind. Let me hear your opinion of your best known live shows or concerts that are more jazz or traditional blues oriented. Let me start out with this one:
...2005 DVD release of Santana/Shorter at the 1988 Montreaux Jazz Festival.
This is a beauty: it has a 96/24 5.1 DTS version. The filming is excellent however it is not in wide screen. If you have followed any of Carlos Santana's jazz ventures and of course Wayne Shorter from Weather Report you'll love this one....what a great duo this was. Great band with Chester Thompson, Patrice Rushen, Alphonso Johnson among others...
next?

Check out some of the recent live stuff from Clapton. There is one DVD charity blues festival he ran in Texas with many great blues artists and excellent SQ. I am drawing a blank on the name of the DVD. It's the one recorded in Texas, NOT the one in NYC.

That would be the Crossroads DVD. Very good
Check out Derek Trucks Songlines, recorded at Chicago's Park West January 28, 2006.

Stevie Ray Vaughan Live at Austin City Limits. This shows before/after drug rehab, and is a good illustration of what made him the phenomenon he was. How many guitarists play lead and rhythm at the same time?

I can recommend...

Dejohnette, Hancock, Holland and Metheny - Live in Concert (2000)
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Austin City Limits
Keb Mo' - Sessions at West 54th: Recorded Live in New York
Derek Trucks - Songlines

Haven't seen any of the titles in the new Jazz Icons series but most have reviewed very well

Not exactly a live "show", but the film Calle 54 has some AMAZING latin-jazz performances from a range of artists. Really well done and highly recommended.

diana krall - live in paris

sting/all this time - compilation of sting & various artists (chris botti, christian mcbride, etc) in a small venue. police & sting classics rearranged as jazz fusion. dvd sound quality is acceptable, but pales in comparison to cd sound quality

the dvd only has a dolby digital soundtrack, which at least for this particular concert is sonically inferior to the cd sound quality
