Good AVR Match for Polk RTi12s?

As I move into considering the recommendations by Anamorphic and others in my "preamp" thread below this in this section of the forum for perhaps looking into a new AVR to better power my Polk RTi12 mains, what would be some suggestions on a receiver to run with these rather power-pig speakers that can handle 500 watts each? I initially only wanted to consider Onkyo -- but outside of this company, what AVR on the market would seem to be a good power match for these speakers?

This is a request for AVR suggestions -- not power amp selections; I'll be considering an amp separately if I go that route, and it will either be an Emotiva or perhaps the new Onkyo multichannel amp that's scheduled to come to U.S. shores.

I use a HK AVR 745 for Polk Audio Speakers

Of course, I have the Polk Audio LSi's in my 5.1 or 5.2 home Theater setup.

The Harmon Kardon 745 is perfectly suited for the Lsi's, and I'm sure you'd be happy with it driving your RTI 12's too.

However, this receiver is like 3 years old now, so I believe the new equivalent model would be the AVR 3600 (slightly less power and performance than my older 745) or the new AVR 7550HD (which is EVEN more powerful than my 745!). I think Audioholics has an open box 3600 right now.

Also, their are refurbished AVR 7300's sometimes sold on E-Bay by Harmon Audio which have the toroidal power transformer and 110Wx7 too.

I wasn't ever a huge fan of Harmon's stuff, but I will definitely put the 745 or 3600 on my list of considerations!

I thought everyone was a fan of Harmon's stuff, at least the HK stuff.

Funny, I went from a loyal Onkyo fan (my first receiver) to Harmon Kardon and haven't looked back. I had an old Onkyo with 60x2, 20x1, 15x2 power, back in the days when Dolby Pro Logic was IT.

I loved that Onkyo, and it served well under heavy use for years and years and years. Then I got an HK AVR 225 (55x5) and there was no looking back, I preferred the HK's. Then a AVR 330 (55x7)? I think, didn't keep it long so I could upgrade to a 635 (75x7)(gave/donated the 225 to my parent's house, sold the 330 on Ebay).
The 635 did have some minor issues, sent it in for warranty work, and they mailed me back a 745 (85x7) free of charge on the upgrade (though I did have to wait about 1-1/2 months w/o a receiver; we'll worth the wait for the free upgrade!).

The 225 still serves my Parent's house loyally; so they do last and last. I've been keeping on eye on Denon's when they go on sale or clearance. Always favored Denon, HK, and Onkyo for AVR's over other brands.

There are people that are indeed diehard H/K fans, but not everyone, although admittingly, many love Denon and Onkyo and H/K, so these are often considered the holy trinity (along with sometimes Yamaha) of the affordable high performance class of AVRs...
