I'm very impressed with my Harman Kardon Soundsticks II setup. For quite some time, I was using it as my primary iPod setup and while I loved it, I chose to pair it with my computer, as I spend more time working in my office than I do sitting in my living room.

It was a Costco special...$89. I doubt you'll find any more of them at Costco, but you might do a quick check.

The klipsch quite simply rocks. I'd spend the extra few dollars on the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (not the GMX line!) or pick up the B-stock factory direct for $90 plus shipping. The warranty on B-stock is a bit shorter. I pricegrabbered them brand new for $135 delivered. I have both the Klipsch 4.1 and their 5.1 Ultra (still in box due to moving) setups and my 4.1 just blows away a lot of my friends' primary sound systems. So far I've had the 4.1 system for 4 years without a problem.

The GMX line is a lower-end gamer centric line and not really for music. The regular ProMedias excel at both.

That's the one(promedia 2.1).....I've been using it for over 2 years now and other than a blown fuse they have worked fine. I even picked up a pair of the "satellites" on ebay for under $30 just as back ups. Got my set up direct from klipsch as b stock.

That's it. I'd try to find them locally for a listen and then price shop.

I also have the Klipsch 2.1's. Great all-around system. Musically, it could be better (weak midrange), but games and movies are great. That little sub can really put out!

Any of you guys hear the X230s? For $36(Canadian), they are a very hard speaker to beat.

The Z2300's sound *way* better than the X230s, and I prefer them to the ProMedia everyone else seems to love. The Klipsch are very good, though.

Really? So you did a blind test like I did to determine this? Also, would you care to divulge *why* they're better? Other then SPL, I have yet to find any, and I own the Z2200s.

Last time I said the same thing, you attacked me then too.

My buddy and I listened to them both in the store. I preferred how the Logitechs sounded. My buddy bought the Promedia.

I've heard his over at his house, and I still prefer the Logitechs.

It's perfectly conceivable that someone actually likes the Logitechs more.

Blind test? As if I gave a crap what company makes my computers. Give me a break.

Um, which logitechs? I'm not discussing the ProMedias.

Attacked? You make me sound ferocious. If asking you to back up your claims makes me an attacker, then thats a label I ware loud and proud.

Now would you care to re-post and compare/contrast the X-230s and the Z-2300s?

Oh.

The X-230s suck compared to the 2300s. I know cause I've heard them. Listen to em yourself if you don't believe me.

.....hahaha....short and sweet....Johnny, can you descriptively compare to us the highs, the mids, and the lows of both speakers?....can you speak a difference in the sound quality of the two?.....can you tell us any differences in the "presence" of the sound quality, as it being "live" or "distant", or clear and clean or muffled and muddy?....
