Gold plated inputs on McIntosh 6200

I just purchased a McIntosh MA 6200 intergrated amp and it has the GOLD plated inputs & outputs on the rear panel. All other sixty two hundreds I've seen have the standard ( silver ) inputs. Would this be a later production unit, if so are they better than earlier models ?

I have a 6200 with the gold RCA ins. When I bought it, I was told that it's a '91, the last year the 6200 was made, and the only year that they had the gold plated ins and outs...
