Going Nuts and need help.

Newb question here but this has been driving me nuts doing research on and not finding a straight forward answer, I need HELP!

My situation is i have an audiobahn aw1206t subwoofer which is rated as a 1100 watt 4ohm dual voice coil sub, and a bazooka rsa800.1d mono amp that is rated at 625 watts @ 4 ohms and 925 watts @ 2 ohms. My question is, Is there a way that i can get this amp to power the sub by wireing it a different way or am i going to have to get another amp. My friend suggested that i wire it in paralell to make it 2 ohm, but i think he's full of s*** since it seems to be pulling dc off the battery when i wire it that way (headlighs almost go dark and rpm drops) so i think that just makes it worse. Any help here would be appreciated, thanks.

Would i be able to hook up another of the same type of amp to the second voice coil instead of one amp to both?

Paralell the coils. Hook to amp. Perfect match


Tie both (+) together as one. Tie both (-) together as one. Now hook to the amp for 925 watts @2ohm.

You need 4AWG wire straight from the battery. Needs to be fused at the battery and at the amp. An extra Optima sealed battery will help with the lights. Or, a farad cap to store energy. You also need a 4AWG ground to the body of the auto.(bare metal)

Thanks, i have the system grounded with 6 gauge but the power cable is 4 and a 20 farad digital capacitor on the way (should be here tomorrow) but like i said i have a feeling that this is pulling dc off the battery which i know can happen when a sub is seriously underpowered. Could the amp just not have enough juice to push the sub?

When you hook it the way your friend and I have recommended, It's gonna have plenty. I would use an extra battery if you have somewhere to put it. Most auto parts stores now carry Optima. I would also replace the ground in the near future. A good ground will help with the lights. But honestly, pulling 925watts is too much work for one battery.

You can use a High Current Relay for a battery isolator. This will save a few bucks. You can find it on the Stinger site.(in the fans and accesories section 200amp) Or, your local installer should have some form of isolation.

Ok so i got the power cap hooked up and it alone seems to have resolved all my problems, i guess it was just to much to ask of the battery and alternator alone. Thanks for the help zumbo!
