I've listened to NHT speakers in the past at hi-fi shops and have always absolutely loved them... for music. I've mentioned on AH before that I have a huge soft spot for NHT gear.

Right now I have a pretty low end Polk setup for my living room (Monitor 50 towers, CS2 center, R15 surrounds, a homemade Dayton Reference 12" sealed sub). Swerd selling his SuperCenter for $75 convinced me to switch over to an NHT setup. I ordered a couple of open box SuperZeroes from Crutchfield to go with it.

Not sure what to expect out of these for TV and movies compared to the Polks, but I'm excited about it!

The thing that you should really notice, will be the human voices.

A more balanced midrange and treble - a good neutral sounding
system. You will hear a more open and detail sound, that will
sound more natural and realistic. To me, the Polk's sound some
what artificial.

That's what I'm hoping. I remember the NHTs I listened to back in the day (SuperZeroes and 2.5s) were extremely clear and detailed. The Polks are good, but leave an overall impression of slightly muddy.

At one point I had seven NHT SuperZero for 7.1. I loved it for both music and movies. Now my little brother has them.

Solid choice. I've always liked their speakers too. If they are good for music, they are good for movies :)

Katy Perry is available too LOL

Got the speaker today Swerd. It's fantastic, thank you.

Preliminary report: incredible. I just watched the Steelers game (what a finish!) and they sounded fine but it's hard to tell by watching football.

I just fired up some music and have been listening to INXS, Pink, Adele, and Iron Maiden. Holy cow, these things are absolutely every bit as good as I remember. Wow. These things have earned their reputation.

Blow away the Polks that I had. Can't believe I wasted so much time on two sets of Polks when I should have just gotten these from the beginning.

The thing that really impresses me is just how transparent they sound. I'm obviously not a speaker reviewer or anything, but I do listen really critically. These speakers just..... disappear. Everything sounds so clear and tight and detailed and effortless, like a really good pair of earbuds but in the open air. I just finished listening to Make It Mine by Jason Mraz. Really simple song but it has a distinct midbass beat that on my older speakers sounded a little loose and seemed to muddy the rest of the track, but on these it is very clear and tight. Jason's voice has a great deal of clarity and it really sparkles along with the background cymbals (is that a tamborine?)

I think I'll go watch Master and Commander tomorrow night for the real test.

Good to know it arrived OK. And I'm glad you like the NHTs.

You had mentioned you got SuperZeros from Crutchfield. Were they new SuperZeros or the old ones? If they're the new ones, how well do they go with the center?

They were the new ones. I emailed NHT to ask if they would match OK with the SuperCenter and they said that the main difference is a very slight tweak of the crossover and they should blend seamlessly.

I've only listened to the football game in multichannel and I couldn't tell any mismatch.

I think listening to the male announcers' voices and crowd noise would be a pretty good way to see how good they blend.

I see your sharing this excitement with the guys over at AVS...:D I'm not suprised the Polk crowd won't share those feeling ....;). Never a big fan of the Polks I've heard.
