GI Joe Retaliation - Kicka$$ bass

Okay, I don't think anyone can expect Oscar-caliber material here.

But the bass is cataclysmic !

Pure eye-candy movie with the babes (Lady Jaye, Jinx), the guns, the Kung Fu fighting (Snake Eye, Storm Shadow, Jinx), and total kicka$$ bass!

The story, characters, and acting aren't as stupid as some action movies like "Expendable". :D

Overall quite enjoyable IMO. :D

Is it the best you've heard on BD? So I'm guessing it's as good as the 1st. one?

I liked it better than the first one. But I may have to go back and watch since it has been a long time. :D

The bass is equivocally the best I've heard. But, again, I will have to re-watch a few movies now that I am using Audyssey Flat DEQ. :D

But the bass is better than Bourne Legacy, which I watched last week.

All that nuclear bomb explosion ! The bass was staggering with just about every scene on GI Joe Retaliation. I was quite shocked. :D

I say with your subs don't SCARE you half to death and leave you wide-eyed and utterly breathless while watching this movie, then something is wrong!

I was very frightened for my 2 projectors!

I definitely agree, I bought the movie on amazon for the kids before it came out on dvd, and when we watched it the bass was so powerfull that thats all we could do for the entire movie, no laptops in the background or answering the phone...

Did you like the first one? It'll be interesting how you think it compares to the second one.

It was funny. Some HT magazines fell OFF the bookshelves while I was watching. The metal A/C vents were rattling.

They jacked up the bass on purpose for this movie. :D

When the nuclear bomb went off, both the sound (bass) and visual effects were truly mesmerizing.

Not yet. Maybe I'll watch it this weekend and the 2nd one next weekend.

I really enjoyed the 1st GI Joe today.:D As far as surround sound goes it is a winner. I was a little disappointed there was not a English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 to try out. I was not blown away with the Bass with English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. I had to turn up the bass 5db on the receiver to get decent bass from this soundtrack and then I was not that blown away, but good enough. I also had to turn up the volume higher than I normally do as well. It ain't Super 8 train wreck scene. Might be the best out there. I'm looking forward to the 2nd GI Joe and the monster BASS. Off to see Manhunter:eek: right now, which I've never seen.

I watched the 2nd one this weekend and enjoyed it. I did have to turn the bass up on my sub..(I must have have had it turned down from a previous movie where my wife and kids complained about too much bass) . The visual detail was really good, crisp, clear, and sharp and the sound track was awesome with great use of the surrounds. The bass was stellar too once I realized I had the bass turned down...

G.I. Joe Retaliation Holy Bass/Surround workout!!! Cranked this loud! First of all I was Leery about "The Rock" in this movie, but he did a decent job. Seeing less of Tatum was great too, this guy is in every movie and I'm sick of his face.:p The Black level(Deep black awe)/Colors were fantastic on my Vizio. Alot of action and a great sequel, that might have been better than the first installment. Glad I bought the BD and looking foward to the 3rd one or maybe a TV series. The hanging on the ropes scene was killer. Thanks ADGT for the heads up.

I don't know how you grown-a$$ men can get into a movie like GI Joe, as these movies are basically pre-pubescent fantasies. If you want to give your subwoofer a workout, just download a sine wave generator or some simple soft synth and blast some 20 Hz pulses. It'll save you the money and time of wading through some braindead story, characters, and dialogue.

Or get a HT Demo Disc, or 3.

That being said, not every movie I watch needs to intellectually stimulate me. Loud, high quality noises, great picture quality, and a couple hot chicks and I'm good to go. IMO, ever deep thinking movie needs to be balanced out with a braindead eye/ear candy movie. YMMV. :D

I just watched this movie two days ago as a Rental for Blu-Ray, and I agree the sound was good. The family seemed to enjoy the explosive festival, but I used it as a study in my sound system.

I did enjoy the Ninja action with Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes, that saved the movie, at least for me.
