I can never make a decision easily it seems without waffling or changing my mind every other day...anyway, maybe I have this one figured out and want to get some feedback.
Short story- looking for a new HDMI receiver to use with my ps3 for movies, etc. I have Aperion 6T's for mains, 5C center, Axiom surrounds: M2's and QS8's. Currently have a 7x50wpc HK AVR235.
I was thinking maybe a new Marantz 5003, Pio Elite 01, or HK 254 if they release a new firmware (seeing too many people having issues with ps3's).
Recently I've realized that last years models pretty much have everything I need already, I'm probably better off getting an older, higher end model heavily discounted rather than a new one with hardly a discount.
I do have space limitations- ie. the Pio Elite 92/94 are too tall and deep for my space. Price is a concern, cheaper the better. There is a Yamaha 3800 for about $1100 nearby. However, I just reread some stuff on the Marantz 7002, and discovered I can get a factory refurb for under $900. It's too tall, but because of the shallow chassis it will fit in my space. Bad thing is, I think it only comes with 1 year warranty, but I can tack on 3 years for $40.
So, finally my questions- any reason why I should not get the 7002? It should be as future proof as anything with codecs and connections, right? Is there anything else I should be considering at that price?
I want to make sure I didn't miss anything in my rushed research from the last hour and a half before running out to a b-day party.
Any feedback greatly appreciated...Thanks.
