OK, so, I have a BD player (the admittedly poor Samsung 1500) and a 7.1 channel AVR (Onkyo 5100 home theater). Couple of things:

1. I'm thinking of returning the Sammy (doesn't even output DTS-HD) and upgrading to a player that does the coding internally. Is this even necessary provided I have an AVR that can decode TrueHD and DTS-MA?

2. The receiver that came with the Onkyo cannot process DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD. One, can the untrained ear even detect a difference in the newer audio codecs? And two, the Onkyo 6100 home theater does come with a receiver that can process TrueHD and DTS-MA (I believe its the 606), and if I return the 5100, it's only a $200 difference. To a non-audiophile, is the swap worth it?

Thanks in advance.

If you can return your purchase, I would.

It's just a more simple solution to have a receiver that does all the processing.

Then, just get the Panny 35, or PS3.
