According to our updates of incoming new material at BB, the xx3 series will be staggering in, about 2 models a week starting the first or second week of March, and the 663 should be in retail stores by the end of March first week of April, but as always, there are "subject to change".

Thanks, I am looking forward to the first professional and user reviews.

Of course, it would also be nice to know when to expect the one I have on pre-order!

RX-V661 RMS Output Power (20Hz - 20kHz) 90W x 7
HTR-6060 RMS Output Power (1kHz) 105W x 7

Don't really know what's the difference though and how an amp puts out more power @ 1kHz.
The 661 will also do 105W@1KHz.

The difference is specs is that virtually any amplifier can crank out more power at a single midband frequency than it can at the upper (20KHz) or lower (20Hz) extremes. So you feed it 1KHz and run it up till it clips (or reaches its specified distortion spec). On the Yamahas they apparently get 105W. Then you retune the input to 20Hz and up to 20KHz. More often than not you will have to reduce the output level to prevent the amplifier from clipping or keep it within its distortion spec; Yamaha apparently have to do that and they get 90W and spec that as the maximum output power across the entire 20Hz-20KHz band.

So in the end, both specs are accurate and probably apply to both models.

The 20Hz-20KHz is generally a more "professional" or high-end audio form of spec and often is quoted at a lower distortion level. The 1KHz spec is generally used when trying to compete in a low-end market and sometimes uses a higher distortion level. Neither is "wrong" but a newbie will believe they are getting more for their money when the 1KHz spec is used.

I ordered mine last week, it should arrive sometime within the next two-three weeks. This is my first real receiver so I am pretty excited to see how everything works out!

With that said: Since I am still a new member and cannot create new posts maybe some more experienced members can help me out. My budget was a 1000.00 dollars so with that in mind I picked up this receiver and I am pairing it with a 5.1 infinity primus system (250 towers for the front, C25 center channel, and 150 rear book shelf speakers) and velodyne dps 12 sub. I am looking for an all around decent system for movies and music. Can anyone with a little more experience give me some insight/opinions on this setup?

thank you

Does anyone know what deinterlacing and upconverting solution this receiver uses?
