Garage Setup... B&K/901's worth the effort?

Hello all! I spend a fair amount of time in the garage, working on various projects. I recently came across some old electronics and speakers I pretty much forgot I had. I've got a fully restored pair of Bose Series IV 901's I received as a wedding gift 10 years ago, (I've never even listened to them... they were restored in 2004), and some other stuff I used in my first two channel setup back in the early to mid 90's: A B&K preamp (AVP1000), a pair of Marantz mono-block amps (MA-500's) and a Marantz Special Ed. single disc CD player.
I'm interested in replacing the $29 Target boom box I currently have on my workbench with the set up above. I'm wondering first of all if the preamp is compatible with the Bose active EQ and secondly: From a performance standpoint, is it even worth all the effort of running the wires and hanging the speakers? I'll include a couple pics below and thanks in advance for all the help. This is a great forum!!

Wouldn't know about the pre-amp/amp match, but considering what you have right now (boombox), you will reap rewards from the effort. Bose might not have the best components, but they 901 sounds good, and considering you got them free; you certainly found a treasure in your garage. So, you did with the Marantz.

You shouldn't have a problem as long as all components function properly. These days, using separates is about the only way to run the 901s.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. All the equipment is functioning properly.
My main issue is that the B&K preamp does not have a Tape 2 input for use with an EQ. It does have: Tape In (play) and Tape Out (record), but I do not see any way to keep them active when using another source like my CD player. I remember some older units having a "Tape Monitor" button on the front that allowed you to keep it in the signal path. ...Maybe I'm just missing something. I guess my other option may be to swing into a pawn shop or scan eBay for some type of vintage setup from the early 80's that will fit the bill.

Connection path:

B&K pre-out --> Bose Eq Amp Connections Input
Bose Eq Amp Connections Ouput --> Marantz amps
Marantz amps --> 901s

Tape loop/monitor connections are not necessary.

Thanks, Rat... I figured I was making it harder than it actually was. (I tend to do that a lot!) :D
