Hey Guys,

I'm coming to you all for prayer. (All of you that pray that is.) I've got some decisions to make. Big ones at that. For about three years now I'd say it has been that I've wanted to take acting classes or at least voiceovers classes (Animation movies). Now, those of you that know me, I'm a shy person. I do not talk a lot in person at all. I tend to stick to myself and like to be left alone. With that being said, I'd like to transfer to a Campus college and meet new people, have fun, perhaps take drama/theater. I need all of you to be praying for me. I will need a decision by January, or at the latest, August of 2009. I want to really to be an actor for animated movies/television shows. That's what I want my career to be. I will also be doing Computer Hardware, Web Design, & Web Development for a backup.

I'd really appreciate it if you all would be praying. I do believe the God will send me into the right direction, but I ask that you all will be praying for me. As you can see I have a lot fo choices to make here soon and don't know really what to do.

Thanks and God Bless,
-Nathaniel

I'm not one of those who pray, but I will suggest that maybe it's time to do a little less praying and a little more action. It seems to me that the harder you work and the more time you put into your chosen vocation, the more likely God is to smile upon your dreams. Or to put it another way, the harder you work the luckier you get.

But if you want to break into the theater field, you have to be in the theater. You can follow my kid's example. During high school, she designed and produced her high school plays and worked part time at an events staging company. She volunteered for years in a local community theater company and followed that up with a college theater program. She also spent another summer across the country to volunteer at another theater company. The contacts she made proved invaluable in landing her a professional stage job in Toronto setting up for huge concerts in some of the largest venues. She wanted to work in the backstage aspect of the industry and that's exactly what she's doing for some of the biggest names in the music industry.

The acting world is a small, close-knit community and depends heavily on the contacts you make to land roles. The only way to secure these contacts and get paid work is to be seen and known in the industry even if it's only through volunteer work. Get out and start painting backdrops, sewing costumes or building props just to get yourself known and keep those valuable contacts. Then go out and audition for the people that already know who you are and what you want to do as a career.

If you are really serious about college fall 09, then September and October are the recommended months to submit your applications. This allows you to be considered for scholarships. You also will need a FAFSA form as soon as possible after doing taxes by mid-February. You should also schedule a campus visit to check out your candidate schools and to be considered a serious applicant. You will also neet to take the ACT test as soon as possible (google ACT Test). College today is a pretty expensive proposition with most of the cheapest colleges being about $7000/yr tuition and fees, $7000/yr room and board and about $1000 for books. If you are new to college, then you will need to contact your high school college councilar and have your high school transcripts sent to the schools you are applying to. There are many guides to the application process from universities and on the internet. Just thought you would like to know that you have to begin the application proceess now if you want to make it in by fall 09.
