A UK problem is a UK solution.
My Marantz SR-6003 has a power cord with a 13amp fuse on it. The plug is for UK houses and I had to exchange the cord for one with an European plug.
Can I just put a 13amp fuse in the new cord? I would just need to put it in-line in one of the phases, right?
Another thing I don't understand is why is the unit provided with a 13amp fused power cord? The manual states 600W of maximum power. I use 220V power. Isn't 13amps too much?
Hi Djizasse,
You live in Portugal, so you use the 220V house current from your area, duh.
The power cord that comes with a 13 amp fuse is normal with a 220 volts electrical circuit. Here in North America, with our 120 volts electrical current circuit, the fuse of our Marantz SR6003 would be about half of yours, 7 amp or so (inside the receiver near the entrance of the power cord).
Now, to be safe, call Marantz customer service in Portugal and ask them the safe method to replace the fuse with the appropriate one, or see if you need to replace the entire power cord. They will know best for your region with the ditto receiver.
