If you are after surge protection, Tripplite has very good products at a reasonable price.

Agreed. I like Tripplite and APC.

Those Belkin PureAV things are OK if you find one on sale as they sometimes are (the basic one can be found <$100 and I've heard of it going for less).

I've heard nothing negative about Furman's pro-audio equipment. Their "Home Theater" lines seem pricey, but I'm sure they're just as well made. I, too, buy Tripplite for personal use.

Panamax and APC are what I use. Both make excellent products.

I've used both Furman and APC for professional installs in college classrooms.
I prefer the Furman. They seem like a higher quality build, and rarely die.
I had 1 go out, and it was replaced within 24hrs. Their customer support is great.

Now on to what really matters, I do not know about their 'home theater' products. I do not have 1st hand experience with that product line. I've dealt soley with their Pro power conditioners and sequencers.

As for Monster, I wont buy anything from them ever. Their overpriced, and for more reasons then I care to get into, I don't have trust in thier company.

I always liked furman.. Their stuff is built like rocks, and blocks bogus juice just as well. Also I don't call components that alert you to voltage spikes or drops extra bs, lol. When youre running high current amplification it's pretty important to know if your amplification is getting a high current.

I'd suggest their pro audio line as im sure the home theater line is the same guts retooled into a flashier package and marked up for saps and WAF. As for me, I'll quote david spade's reference to bachelorism:

"...now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go back to doing whatever I want, all the time."

Yeah, my living room walls are reminiscent of an anechoric chamber, and I'm damn proud of it.

I have the Furman PM Pro Series II 20-amp in my dedicated theater room and love it. No issues, and it helped eliminate a 60Hz ground loop hum that I had thanks to my DishTV install (installer could barely spell Dish, let alone figure out where his ground loop hum came from).

Also been considering checking out the Brickwall surge protectors... anyone have experience with them?
