ok. this is my first post and i had to talk about this company i found, Funk Audio.

i had the privilage of going to their studio and listening to Nathans creations. the 8.2P should be illegal. ive owned Klipsch, paradigm, and ive been around audiophiles my whole life (32 years). i know what i like, and i REALLY like these loudspeakers!:) here's a comparison, i had a pair of Heresy's run through a massive 2 chan Mitsubishi, and Funk's 8.2P's with a 18.0 (with a TSAD18v1 Driver) decimate this Klipsch icon... and the system is physically smaller and more versatile. i might even say that they put the Focal Profile 918 on notice.
based on sound imaging alone, i threw down the money for a 2.1 setup

heres the details

F8.1P - one less driver than the 8.2 and its a pre-release order for 2012, and in curve side construction:cool: to match the sub.
18.0 - TSAD18v1 (his own driver) which sounds way better than the TC Sounds and is lighter too?!?
Built-in 3Chan amp (pre-release for 2012) ;) to power the whole thing
all the enclosures are in Koa wood - super sexy:D

Im telling anyone that reads this, getting into that "review panel" that he has set up is gold!! from what he told me, 2012 is going to be an epic year.

I wanna hear that CSS Planar 2 really badly. I've been telling Den Pure Sound that he really should drive up to BC and audition these 8.2s. The Faital Pro / Planar 2 combo should just be deadly with effortless dynamics. Next time I'm in Van if I get some free time I'm going to hit up Nathan's demo room. A pair of the 8.2s + 4 of the 18.0s sounds like heaven.

I doubt it "sounds better" than the TC Sounds but it's probably got "easier" midbass SPL if it's lighter. 1:1 i can see why you prefer the one you prefer but 4:4 I think I would go with the LMS5400.

dont rush to judgement until you hear it ;) im just saying that i like what Funks driver sounds like over the LMS5400. it sounds like the sound is happening because it should, not like a massive amount of power is telling it to... it just sounds absolute. nothing against TC, but F.A. has blown me away, and i dont gush over sound like this. thats why this is my first post.
back to the loudspeakers, i think the enclosure design is huge in the success of the 8.2, given that the faital/planar combo is killer, i just cant get over what his crossover/processing/imaging/combination of awesomeness/Nathan has done with this thing. tell Den Pure to get on the review panel if he doesn't want to travel.

Oh my so many drivers worth trying from CSS. Have you worked with any of their stuff? I'm definitely salivating.

No I haven't, but I definitely agree. They've got all those subs (Trio 12, SDX10, SDX-15 mk II), a really nice midwoofer (SDX-7), an intersting full range (EL70), a very interesting wide range (VWR126X), an XBL^2 dome tweeter, the Planar 2 that can play from 500hz to 40khz at HIGH spls without compression, and last but not least they're working on a 10" coaxial which should be very interesting.

but Funk Audio is about 3 hours north of the border, depending on traffic :(
>_> DPS needs a vacation, a few hours on a ferry sounds about right <_<;

P.S. I got your PM but I was unable to respond to it; check your settings.

Ok first off I have to say one thing....

LOVE the HK MP5K PDW - I am already thoroughly impressed with you just for that pic alone.... Huge HK fan, and I'm waiting my delivery of that same shooter... PM me if you want to talk HK's, got a new project in the works...

Second - thrilled with my FW 18.0, but I'm extremely hurt with Nathan not putting my sub on his gallery either... I have yet to see better looking woodwork... I am a huge TC fan and have errr ahhhh a bunch of them, but I was happy to hear from Nathan about his newest 18" driver creation. Hoping to get a chance to hear it in the near future...

Nathan - sounds like you have a winner on your hands buddy, just as your measurements showed....

Ahhh, the MP5. I'm also a fan. When I first moved to Arizona, I saw one for sale in Phoenix that was full auto with a suppressor. Too bad they wanted $10k for it, and I just started working and didn't have anywhere near that kind of money.
