G'day everyone!

Perhaps this is not the forum for this topic, but with all the knowledgeable people out there, I give it still a shot....

My girlfriend an me are looking for a high performance HD, we are not very knowledgeable about videocams, but we are both engineers with high technical education, so wi do understand the tech stuff and phsyics, the basic concepts of optics and digital technology are well known to us.

So we shoveled through a lot of articles, forums, user reviews, and finally settled on 3 cameras: Panasonic HDC HM700, Canon HF S20, JVC GZ HM1.

All of them are about the same price range where we live:

Pluses of Panasonic:
- 3-matrix (1/4.1 3MOS, which should provide good quality video shooting indoors and dusk)
- the glory of a good stabilizer
- SDXC support
Minuses:
- ?

Pluses JVC:
- 1/2.3" cmos
- a good amount of internal memory
- user-friendly interface (which means quick access to settings on the panel)
- Compared to Panasonic, lower level of noise.
Minuses
- No touchscreen (Not sure if this is a minus)

Pluses Canon:
-more saturated colors (based on VideoTests)
-Touch-screen (not sure, or this is a plus) with good resolution,
-price, cheaper than competitors
Minuses:
- Not really Full HD?
- HF S 21 is not up to level with previous model HF S 11 on colors

We read info that Canon shows Full HD resolution / 1920x1080, but actually uses a lower resolution in the shooting 1366h1080 + progressive scan to “fake” Full HD capabilities; And how about JVC, Panasonic, state on the use of Full HD?

QUESTIONS:
Are there any opinions about these products, as well as people who have one of these cameras or that have done a comparisons?

Which camera would you chose and why?, the price is neither an argument nor a decisive factor to us

Is there any difference in video quality between HDC-TM700 and the cheaper HDC-SD700 and HDC-SD600, or is the only differences in memory capacity and other features that do not affect quality of video.

I would be very grateful for any help and input to this subject.

Best regards

Haraldo
