Nakamichi RX-202 UniDirectional Auto Reverse Cassette Player

Price: $100 + Shipping from 46970 no handling fee

One of the most ingenious tape deck designs out there. Nakamichi produced 3 models with UDAR (UniDirectional Auto Reverse). Because most cassettes are far from perfect Nakamichi's UDAR combats this issue by turning the tape around, instead of the head for more uniform playback and recording. The operation of this deck is smooth and a joy to use and listen to. When introduced back in 83' this deck carried an MSRP of $870 USD at that time. This deck weighs about 20 pounds, cheap was the last thing in mind when they designed this deck.

Condition is good, the plastic cassette cover is missing a hook on one side, it will stay in just fine, but not as snugly as it did when new. I'd give it a 6/10 for that and some scratches on top of the unit as well as some light staining on the fascia. Nothing is missing and record/playback both work great. All lights and indicators work.

Please feel free to ask any questions and check out my other classifieds.

This model is also multi-voltage if anyone cares, most of the US RX-202 decks were not.

If any one buys Seth=L's player I'll throw in a over hundred cassettes from the 70's and 80's for just shipping cost.

Ha ha, nice. I just wish I had some nice blank cassettes to bundle with it. I bet that would make it quickly sell. Odd thing is. The last one on audiogon in similar condition sold for $125 almost immediately. A potential buyer has expressed interest in it, but is waiting for money.

I probably should have listed this thing on eBay and made sure to note that it was multivoltage ready (most RX-202s are not).
