I bought these two DVD's to test out my HD player but the player is not going to work with my TV (Samsung HLS series). Returned the player but now i'm stuck with two DVDs!

They've been put in the player once, no scratches, about 1 week old.

****** UPDATE*******

I'm selling each for $13 shipped (only shipping to USA and the continental 48 states, sorry now Hawaii or Alaska).

or $21 for both

The Toshiba HD-A1 did not work with the Samsung HLS Series DLP TV. Guess I should have clarified a little more, hehe :)

DVDs work fine (I tested them on a couple BB tv's when it wouldn't work on my TV)

Thanks,

Sam

The HD-DVD Player is having trouble with the Samsung HLS series tv's (the hdmi port, but might be the component too, i'm not sure). I tried the DVD on a 50" HLS and a 42" hls and kept getting the common (to the error) HDMI error (no signal).

Not sure if firmware has fixed this yet as I returned the player quite a bit ago (about 3 weeks).

Yeah i'm pretty sure I can. I have a paypall account linked up to my bankaccount so I can transfer the funds from paypall to my checking account correct?

BTW sambow87,
Toshiba have released a number of firmware updates to address the HDMI issue, the latest of which is V1.4 for models HD-XA1, HD-A1 and HD-D1

FAQ about the update:
Frequently Asked Questions:

Q1. The HDMI output does not work or works intermittently with the HDMI or DVI input on my HDTV or monitor. Does the new firmware address that problem?

A1. The firmware update addresses and improves HDMI and DVI connectivity. If you still experience problems, try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable. Make sure your display input is set to HDMI (or DVI). If your display has more than one HDMI/DVI input, make sure that all connected HDMI/DVI source devices are powered on (even if not in use). If none of these solve the problem, please turn off the TV and the HD DVD player. Check all connections. Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable. Turn on the TV first and then turn on the HD DVD player. Should you continue to experience problems, please contact Toshiba Customer Solutions at (800) 319-6684.

Q2. During HD DVD playback I sometimes experience pixelization or block noise. Sometimes playback stops. Sometimes, playback is not smooth. Does the new firmware address these issues?

A2. The firmware update addresses various playability issues. You should also check to be sure that the disc is clean and, if the disc will not operate at all, that you are inserting the disc with the right side up. Should you continue to experience problems, please contact Toshiba Customer Solutions at (800) 319-6684.

Q3. When I hook up my HD DVD player to my HDTV or HD monitor using the HDMI connection I hear a high frequency noise from the HDTV or HD monitor when I switch on the HD DVD player's power. Does the new firmware address this issue?

A3. This firmware update addresses the issue. Should you continue to experience problems, please contact Toshiba Customer Solutions at (800) 319-6684.

Q4. Do I need to install prior firmware updates before installing the current firmware update?

A4. No. The current firmware update includes all of the prior firmware updates.
These updates probably fixed the issue you originally had, in which case you could be watching those HD movies ;)

cheers:)

Damn, well, I actually returned the TV and the DVD player (just wasn't the right time).

I could have waited, but my housing setup kind of changed and my purchase wouldn't have been reasonable for the room I will be staying in.

That does make me happy, because I eventually want to re-buy that Samsung in the future. Now i'm just stuck with 2 hd-dvds that I can not play or use, hehe.

Thanks for the information though, that really puts a sigh of relief in me for the future!
