Front-firing sub - obstructed placement

Hi,
Although this is my first post, I want to thank everyone for lots of great info I've learned here for the last 1.5 years. Based on your recommendations I've selected a setup from Axiom (music/movies=50/50). Now it's time for the sub, and I've finally come down to 3 choices:

SVS PB-10NSD
HSU VTF1
HSU VTF2 MK2

The PB-10 would be my first choice, I understand it has better specs than the other two, but since it is front-firing I'm not sure that I can place it behind an arm-chair (see the attached scheme).

I've already tried VTF2 Mk2, and it was pretty good for movies, but I did not hear significant improvement for music. I assume that VTF1 is very similar and it is hard for me to make a distinction between those two.

Could you, please, recommend the best solution for me. Thanks!

Subwoofers don't displace sound like speakers, and objects in their way won't make a difference to the sound. My subwoofer was behind my couch and the rows in front of it heard it perfectly.

That's not exactly correct, but you have the right idea. A sub outputs sound at a low enough wavelength that blockage like furniture doesn't have the same effect as it does for higher frequencies (either due to absorption or pattern interference). The idea is the same as an antenna-a TV antenna will not have as much problems with trees as one that transmits or receives at higher frequencies (like, say, a DTV signal) because of the wavelength of the signal and the effect (or lack therof) that the obstructions have on the signal.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm gonna go with HSU STF-2 since is back in stock.

I had my PB-10 and VTF-2 in a corner setup behind my ent. center and it wasn't a problem at all for either of them.
