I just can't wait to hear how the SVS will sound. I'll have this all setup in my bedroom, much smaller than the living room or entertainment rooms with a flat ceiling around 8-9ft.

I wonder how it'll sound with some bass heavy rap tunes

Just got the RX-V365 today!! :D Figured it was at a good price for a budget receiver. Also ordered HT Omega Claro Plus+ sound card. NOW... all I'm missing are the F-1 speakers and SVS sub. F-1 speakers are gonna be ordered in a few days, and SVS will be the last final blow, and it will require another few weeks of saving up

I'm happy I could help. Setting up the HT Claro is cake!. You'll love the audio demo it has...
Hey Joe, if you happen to be around... would you happen to know if it's at all possible to play MP3, WMA... etc. well, normal music through all 5 speakers on analog inputs? Right now my ProMedia 5.1 only plays through the two front channels + sub, even though I have the card settings at 6 channel surround. Never figured out how to get music to come out of all 5 speakers.

Thanks in advance!!

It doesn't look like your receiver is capable of that. Your receiver does have a 5 channel music mode (pg. 25 of the manual), but on page 18 it says that the sound field programs are not selectable when the input source is set to multi channel input. If you want to have your music play from all 5 speakers you would need to use a different input. IMO, 2 channel is better for music listening anyway unless it was recorded in 5.1, such as DVD-A.

Oh, I see... I noticed that option on the receiver, still playing around with it to understand it more.

However I am not using the receiver yet (speakers aren't all here yet)... so I'm still using my PC system (analog) and have it connected to the Claro. Was wondering if the Claro could output 5 channels for music through analog. I'd assume not since normal music is not recorded through 5.1 eh...

The X-Fi did this, I think it's called XMSS 3D or something like that. When you select it the music comes out of all 5 speakers...

Also the 365 is not an HDMI audio repeater, just a switcher, just so you know. For you to get DTS audio you'll need to set that on the sound card. Go into the driver which BTW has an awesome GUI and play around. That's of course if you're using optical out on the card to your receiver. Anything analog out will get be stereo...or Dolby pro logic at best.

Yeah, I'll be using the Fiber optic cord that came with the sound card. Still waiting for the front speakers to arrive so I can hook it up. Will take me a bit to figure out how to work the sound card with the receiver

If you will be using the optical input, then you should be able to select the sound field that plays your music from all the speakers.

Ok SWEET! The F-1's just arrived today. I took em out and was about to hook em up to the receiver when I see THIS:

Hmmmmm... I wonder which one should I use, top or bottom??:confused:

I'm assuming they are the same but I'd rather be safe than sorry lol

Congrats on the new speakers!

Yep, either the top or the bottom set would work the same. Those metal jumpers between the pairs connect them together, so you can use either set. This is not at all meant to sound patronizing, but be sure not to connect the speaker wires to posts with the same color with the jumpers on, because you'll cause a short.

If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you'd take those metal jumpers out and actually use both sets of binding posts.

Argh, ok I think I see what they are... HF and LF. Hmmmm... receiver only has a pair of inputs for the front speakers, how am I gonna use up all of them?

Well here you go! Pictures uploaded of the setup. All I'm missing now is the subwoofer... I'm thinkin bout placing it left of the desk next to the left tower speaker in that perfect open space. Other than that... I was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by the sound quality!!

Now I can brag to my computer geek friends who think that they have a "badass" computer system aka. Logitech Z-2300 LOL!!!!!! (Sorry not a big Logitech speaker fan) :D

COMPUTER DESK w/ CENTER CHANNEL

FRONT LEFT SPEAKER

FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER

REAR LEFT SPEAKER

REAR RIGHT SPEAKER

And yeah... if you were wondering about my computer setup, you'd notice I'm a big flight sim fan... HOTAS setup with the pedals and the TrackIR on top of the monitor hehe...!

Can't wait for the sub to ship in!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay... business done and I'm about to place the order on my SVS woofer. Last minute decisions REALLY HURT!!!!!

The PB12-NSD was my original plan, but seeing that the PC12-NSD is lighter and smaller yet goes LOUDER than the PB12-NSD according to the frequency vs dB chart... it doesn't make sense to me at all. I know I have the room for the PB12 but if I can potentially save space and get the PC12 for louder volumes, why not? Since I have no experience with the SVS brand, don't know how to compare them at all :(

And hey, common sense tells me that the box would be better, but I'd never know!! Really need your opinions here, thanks!!

Nice, HOTAS, pedals (CH?) and the TrackIR.
I have the TrackIR and the Saitek X52. Nothing like peeking out of the cockpit :D

Can't you move the front speakers out of the corners? I would put the PC on the ground and the right speaker next to it, the left would be in a symetrical position.

lol... indeed, CH HOTAS. :D

No need, I can hear the right speaker fine, PC doesn't block it at all.

I'll say two things. First, the chart for the box sub shows a flatter response, which I think is a good thing. The response in your room will be different, though, so real-world differences between the cylinder and box might not be that noticeable.

Second, I have one of their cylinder subs and love it. I have the PC13-Ultra, so it's a bit bigger than the one that you're looking at. I really like the form factor. I went between getting a box or a cylinder for over a year, and I'm happy with my choice. Many others are very happy with their SVS box subs, too. I don't think that you could go wrong either way. It's just whatever seems best to you.
