The reason for the infamy of this day heralds back to the year 1307 when the King Philip IV of France
needed to refill his coffers after some financially expensive battles. He decided to round up the Knights and imprison and torture them under the guise of heresy. Pope Clement had to wash his hands for the forced tortured claims of heresy and thus disbanded the Knights.
