Gotcha... again, just looking for clarification: does the SDS-12 meet the mini requirements you would consider for this space, or would a pair these be inadequate in your opinion? Thanks for your assistance and patience.
No not at all, if you want a compact sub to handle that room size, it come at a steep price. The HSUs will crush the sunfire subs.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys... F2's, huh? Nice! Unfortunately, price is a factor. How do you suggest I try to properly size the subs? Let's say I want to stay under $1,500 for the pair... would moving up to the Sunfire SDS-12 be enough of an upgrade? From a spec/performance perspective, would a pair of these subs be sufficient? I understand you guys like the other brands, I'm only trying to get a sense of scale (e.g. the SDS-10 v SDS-12 in my space).

As for the power... I wish I could be more specific in defining poor power beyond inconsistent power (spikes and brown-outs). My reasons for this equipment was to protect equipment and improve sound. Perhaps I'm making a something out of nothing. I appreciate the questions, I will spend time looking at these line items closer.
I threw the Seaton out there to see what you might say about budget :)

The Sunfire subs are very meh compared to the suggestions you're getting....they're just not a player (the original Bob Carver Sunfire was an amazing sub in its day, but doesn't relate to their current company/lineup AFAIC). The website is deceptive, they tout the SDS10/12 as dual drivers when there is only one driver and a passive radiator (essentially a ported/vented design but without port chuffing). The F2 is a true dual driver 15", far more potent than the Sunfire in any measure.

If your budget is $1500 for the pair I'd think about stretching it a bit with Everett's suggestion (duals though).

I think for the most part a surge protector strip will do what you want, if you really need more surge protection, then whole house surge protection is the way to go.

Monitor Audio is usually quite good. Sunfire subs, no way, these measurements are not very good for anywhere near that price! If your budget is 1500, get a couple of Hsu ULS-15 mk2s. They will have about three times the performance of the top of the line Sunfire sub for less than half the cost. If you can exceed your budget a bit, get the Hsu VTF3 mk5s, they will have stronger deep bass than the ULS subs.

listen to these guys. you won't regret it. I just bought a pair of svs subs suggested here a little while ago and I'd never go back to anything less. the extra money spent is very audible in clarity, control and power. a pair of those Hsu subs that's been narrowed down would work very well in a room your size and it's not too far off your budget.

Define poor power. What do you think the conditioners will do for your system? Never found a use for such, more curious why you think you need them. Can buy a lot of gear for the price of that stuff.
So you just plug everything into the wall, using power strips?

Well, I just ordered the VTF-15H MK2 DualDrive package... stretched the budget a bit. I plan to keep the rest of the equipment on my list unchanged. Thanks to all for input. I'll post a new thread with pics when the system is installed. Thanks again.
