I AM NEW…. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND HELP !!!
Years ago, I thought I knew a lot. After reaching a certain system satisfaction, I stopped staying informed for a few years... Technology has passed me by to such an extent, I now have to consult manuals to connect equipments.
I have read a lot of postings from all the members and I welcome all your suggestions to my problem.
I have tons of equipment, (beeing a pack rat) primarily pretty much on what used to be the high end. I use to run for my sound system a tri-amplification setup with a Pioneer active crossover etc... you get an idea, Dr. Heill Studio monitor with Air motion transformer ESS, Century JBL's and so on . AR Preamp, with some old McIntosh tube amps and some newer amps from AR and Phase Linear.
Later, I incorporated a projection TV (Proscan 62, and again a bit later a Sony Trinitron XBR 62).
At that time, to facilititate the use of the system for my wife #$@%% I switched to a receiver Pioneer VSX-D1S and later again to an Onkyo MR1 . Now you have what was the picture. Recently, the TV's died and I realized I was out of the knowlodedge curb!!!
So here is my problem. I just purchased a DLP Samsung HL-R5688W, tle latest with the awaiting 1080 res. I further added a DVD HD-950. both uit connected with HDMI. This is great, but the ret of my system just does not cut it., my equipment is now totally obsolete.
I have looked, searched, attempted to informed myself and was gready to order the Pioneer Elite VSX 74TXVI, when I stumbled on your forum, read more and now, I am confused. I am now comparing with the new Yamaha RX V2600.
The samsung being a true 1080, which way should I go, or do you suggest a different approach.
I truly would appreciate all the help I can get, I have ,even ,subscribed to a few Cnet "classes" about HDTV, setup etc... and all this was a waste which did not teach me anything nor did it provide me with any useful/practical information in todays market.
I apologize for the lenght of this posting, in the future, I promise they'll be shorter.
Thank you.
