This standalone CD recorder/player comes with an 80 GB harddrive, so you can copy all your CDs onto the harddrive and have them stored in lossless wave format. You are NOT dealing with lossy MP3s here.
You can upgrade the harddrive to 120 GB.
You can play your music from either the harddrive, in which case it functions as an excellent jukebox, or you can copy entire CDs stored on the harddrive onto CDrs.
The CD recorder function has been tested, and has been found that it makes PERFECT copies of the original CDs.
In the time I have owned this unit, I primarily used it as a standalone jukebox. I have about 120 CDs stored on the harddrive, and the music quality/convenience just can't be beat by conventional CD players.
I purchased this player/recorder brand new about 6 months ago. Used it for about a month, before putting it in storage (I moved to another city). Now I am temporarily back in Durham, NC.
