Is there a large enough difference between the $1500 and up player compared to the one's you can buy for $350? I'm going to buy a new Blu-ray player and I don't mind spending more $ if it's worth it.

Your consideration would be their capabilities, video and audio, the video chip inside. But, I might suggest a consideration for the Samsung:

Then, you have both covered with an excellent player and it has been listed for $800 preorders at several places.

I doubt you will get anything more from the high priced ones.

I would be very skeptical that you would see or hear any difference in basic performance from any of the current BD players. I can't say for sure because I haven't tested any other than the S300 I own.

Obviously the PS3 is a game machine and has that additional capability. The 1.1 machines are coming soon and those would be an option if you want PIP or some of the on-line added features that this technology provides. I think that is the more important issue. Personally, I don't care a whit for these additional features but you may. Make your decision based on the current or the new 1.1 machines.
