Anyone else into folk metal? I'm just starting to get into it, but I am enjoying it a lot, although I've really only listened to three bands so far... Turisas, Tyr, and Alestorm. Anyone listen to this stuff?
Not really, lol. I mean folk music is totally different from metal, but not when you look at the definition of folk. I mean, what is fold music, in my understanding of the word, is music written by people of a certain areas using the traditional music and style of their area. It's quite awesome, actually. The band that I have been listening to the most, Turisas, is from Finland and they have a very Old Northern European flavor to it. You should give it a tryFolk Metal? Is that an oxymoron?
haha, lol, it's cool. You just can't stand metal or what? I made one of my friends listen to it, and they hate metal, and they thought it was interesting and said that it wasn't half bad XDThat is a big uumm NO from me. I can't even try to listen to it![]()
Yeah, it's pretty similarSounds interesting. I'm pretty into melodic death metal myself (as evidenced by my Soilwork avatar). Is it similar?
Alestorm is a bit to pirate-y for me XDonly heard alestorm once, didn't work for me
You forgot the jaw-harp!Ok I give up what makes it folk??????? I can't hear a difference.Do they do 2 chorus's in between verses, is there a violin solo, mandolin solo, dobro solo, pedal steel solo, piano solo, washboard solo, bass bucket solo, I just don't hear it bro.......![]()
I think it's mainly the instruments that they play and the feeling that they add to the music. If you are missing it, then I doubt that I will be able to explain it to you any better (cause I'm terrible are explaining these kinds of things).Ok I give up what makes it folk???????
