FM antenna connector adapter

For years the common coax connection for FM radio was RG59U and something I believe they call an F connector. It is threaded and screws onto the female end of the connector. The current practice seems to be a push-on type of connector. I need an adapter that will convert the F connector to the new type of connector. Anybody know where to go?

I'm pretty sure you can find anything you need like that at Radio Shack. I think that F connector whether it is threaded or push type is sort of universal. One should work with the other. It's just a matter of making the connections between the center conductors and the outer ones. If not Radio Shack will have what you need for short money.

Thanks. Yes you are right. It is called a female F to male push on adapter. $1.79 at Radio Shack. The problem is that I couldn't find anything on the web. I couldn't even figure out what to call it. Thanks again.

Most recievers come supplied with the folded dipole antenna that have the slip on connectors but you can still use the regular "F" Ends on the recievers jack.

Also, Alot of cable companies carry FM on their line too and you can just plug your cable feed directly into there and get stations.

One reason to visit your local store and use your hands to explain it:D

If you can't find one at Radio Shack, Parts Express has them for $0.75. The shipping might be a lot more than the price of that part.

I have a Denon AVR-2500 and the antenna connector is a PAL-type TV plug. What you want is an "F-to-PAL Adapter" [sic]. You can indeed get these at Radio Shack (P/N 278-265).

Does anyone have any idea what FM antenna connector the JVC RX-5060B uses?

Welcome to the forum!

According to the owner's manual, it is a "75 ohm coaxial cable (with the standard type connector)". The images make my believe that you would want a push-on connector like the one pictured on the left below.

Are you saying receivers now come without threaded FM jacks?

If so, this is not good news.

I believe that "push-on" connector is a cheap substitute for a threaded "F" connector. It will fit over a standard, threaded, "F" jack. Methinks it's made for those who are not mechanically inclined enough to screw on a "F" connector.

These have been used for low-line video interconnects for years, particularly at Radio Shack back in the 80's and 90's.

Given my druthers, I'd go for the threaded ones any day. They make a more secure connection.

I appreciate the welcome and the reply.
I'll pick up an adapter at Rat-Shaq and see what I can pick up over Comcast cable!
Thanks again!
