Today, my girlfriend's father gave me a Fisher "Studio Standard" stereo receiver. Model, RS-9005. He gave it to me because he found out I was interested in component systems and because he was going to toss it anyway. He thought that it didn't work correctly. But when I got it home, it powered right up; everything seems to work fine.

But anyway, getting to the point, what is the quality of this receiver? Anyone know much about it?

Thanks

Fisher was very influential in the beginning of consumer electronics. They were aquired by Emerson and then Sanyo eventually. Their equipment went down hill into the 80's and hit the top of the list for repairs. Eventually they quit manufacturing their rack systems and now only make bookshelf systems. If you have a vintage stereo that still works you have a piece of history. I wouldn't count on the quality being even close to what you can buy now for even a few hundred dollars.
