My hi's or the tweeters make a crackle/pop at a certain volume, and it changes depending on the song...just wondering if there is something I can replace or do to minimize/remove the noise completely since its terribly annoying.

If you can take off the tweeter and notice a loose wire, it will be an easy fix. If all wires seem firmly attached, it could be an issue with the crossover. The later will require a trained tech to diagnose the problem.

My guess is a blown or damaged tweeter, but as mentioned, I'd remove it and see if it is something obvious. If it is blown, then now would be a good time to start auditioning new speakers.

so wires look good, means the tweeters needs replaced or the crossover? Cause i have spare tweeters i can plug into the slot the cross over the the small rectangle box along the wires if I'm correct?

Could it be with the stereo control sometimes I will make the crack but then run a hi pitch squeal until i hit/tap the controller.

Yes, that could definitely damage a tweeter very quickly. I would maybe test your other tweeter to see if you get sound; that will tell you right away if it is the tweeter itself or the crossover that is damaged. The problem is, if you don't fix the volume control, you will keep damaging the speakers.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but these were not particularly good speakers when they were new in the 70's.

Your time and energy would be better spent on finding a modern, decent replacement set of speakers instead of propping these back up. Even the current crop of low-line speakers will equal or better these relics.

Have fun,
