Here is something of interest.
I'd just like to point out that MTM does not automatically equal d'appolito. To be a D'appolito array it must have a 3rd order acoustic crossover.

I honestly don't know what the crossover networks employ.

6dB/1st order
12dB/2nd order
18dB/3rd order
24dB/4th order

I would assume the point for the tweeter would be steep(18/24), and the point between the mids would be gradual(6/12). This is how I design car audio systems, but I have no idea about home speaker design.

I do plan on building my first set of books soon, so you guys can plan on laughing at me.:D

I can't find anything that supports this claim.

Please note that Grant said acoustic crossover (I'm just learning about this stuff too). If say your drivers had a 6db/octave rolloff at the xover point, naturally, then by adding a 12db/octave electronic xover would now the sum add up to be 18db/octave as an acoustic crossover.
When I purchased my speakers, they were advertised as D'appolito array. I can't find anything to support this claim now.

Current model of the MB Quart 830, under the German Maestro name, claim 12/12/12. No mention of the natural roll-off.

marketed crossover slopes are always designated acoustically. electrical crossover slopes only matter to the manufacturer and have no value to the end user. Don't put too much thought into natural rolloff of drivers unless you're trying to recreate it.

It is an MTM loudspeaker, just not with the same charactersitics as the type originally described by D'Appolito. Different crossover orders will have different effects and ultimate performance. IIRC even D'appolito has moved away from his original idea of a 3rd order slope to 4th order linkwitz-riley behaviour instead.

One review of the new speakers called them "d'Appolito style".

In despite of a driver formation in “d’Appolito style”, the German Maestro confi guration is based on 2,5 way concept. In its own sealed chamber the upper woofer takes care on frequencies up to 2,2 KHz. The other one is in charge for a bass reproduction below 120 Hz. This increases the (the whole speaker system’s) maximum SPL – and decreases their harmonic distortions …

As a 2.5 way it's already a bit different from most MTMs....
