thanks for all the responses guys, i would go with something more expensive but i am also buying a 32" samsung LCD, which eats up quite a bit of my budget. What I am trying to get out of this HT is a setup that is used mostly for movies and video games that will out do my 50$ logitech HTiB (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-X-530-5-1-Speaker-System/dp/B0002WPSCG) , which is really only 2.1 because i dont have the proper hookups for it. I wont be going straight to 7.1, that will be for somtime later on, but i am really hoping to get 5.1 as a start. i guess ive got some old sony bookshelf speakers i could use for the surrounds if i had to but i dont think they can handle a lot of power.

edit: what about the speaker company? i read the review on here but does anyone have any more experience with these?

The Speaker Company is a pretty new company. Supposely, they are backed up by some big company...don't remember which one. It got a decent review here not that long ago. I don't think they are any much better than the Fluance. Based on price and the limited reviews, I pretty much lumped them equal to Fluance as a budget system. Either way, I am almost postive, you'll be much happier with either one over what you currently own. This is the way I look at life: If you are going to go all out...go all out. If you are going to go low, go low. Atleast by going low, if it disappoint, you now you didn't spent an arm and a leg for it. :D

I am glad to hear that they will out do my little HT system. If this was my only hobby i would put more money into it, but i also enjoy working on cars, hunting and lots of other things that cost money too. I think im going to go with the fluance system and be happy with it, especially when i think of the price:D.

i bought the sx-htb package from fluance about 3 years ago. I added a downfiring sub and i was off to the races.

it flat out killed them htib and i was really impressed with all the speakers. Later i set up to a 7.1 using the fluance speakers as well. Still have no complaints, but i also dont know about the high end stuff. My sony reciever was the weak point and still is, but that will come in time. I bought this stuff when i was a graduate from college and it was my first toy. I have moved alot and kept all the boxes and every time i move they get put into the same boxes i was sent 3 years ago. I just made one ding on the corner this last time i moved and it was not me moving them. Kinda got into legal problems and child custody stuff.

if you want a good budget i say go with fluance and you will not be dissapointed and it will also wake you up to what else could be out there to make it better. You will be happy and later on down the road when you hav more cash then upgrade to the bigger and better stuff. I am waiting till i buy my first house to go to bigger and better.

well i went to ordert the Fluance speakers and i noticed that there is a 6-8 week delay, and that really sucks so im going to look for someplace else.

are SDAT speakers any good? im looking at these towers for my mains.

or these

im also looking at the speaker company, either all 5 from them or the center and surrounds + those SDAT towers.

thanks for all your help.

Edit: sorry for all the links but i just noticed that sdat also has a center/surround package.

well i guess SDAT is a "white van" speaker company,so the search continues. All they need to do is be 6 or 8 ohms, and handle at least 75 watts. i would prefer towers, or bookshelves with good low end sound.

be patient with fluance ...

and it will be at your door before you find that other set you find

the six weeks will fly by ..

i was told the same thing .. and i think i had them knocking on my door about a week later. To my suprise, but i was happier then a kid in a candy store ...

my neighbour actually signed for the packages because i was at work not expecting them to arrive that early ... lucky i had a good neighbour to do that for me.

well im going to call them up and ask if it really will take 6-8 weeks, id be willing to wait a week or so, but 6-8 is way too long for me to wait.

This thread was very helpful for me. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Fluance set and be patient. I've never sat through a full movie at a house with 5.1 system or played a game through with a system, so I will probably think these Fluance are the best sounding things in the world. One question, how do you pronounce it?
