I've read some of the forum posts here and a couple other forums and have decided this is the place to get some solid advice.
I live in a fairly small home in NM. Our living room is a modest 200 sq. ft.
My current receiver is a Yamaha RX-V2092 I bought when it hit the stores in the 90s.
Speakers are:
Koss M80-Plus used as front presence 7.5 ft. off the floor.
Cerwin Vega MX-250s with recently rebuilt woofers
Bose 301 Series IIs sitting on top of the CVs
Bose VCS-10 center 6 in. off the floor
Acoustic Research AR-15 rears.
I am constantly amazed at the audio quality of this system. I really don't want to update or change anything. However, fate has intervened and my beloved receiver is now having issues. It has recently started shutting down after being on for some time. There's no issue with it turning back on. Usually, when it shuts down and I turn it back on, it stays on until we turn it off - sometimes a couple hours. Other times, it shuts down a couple times - 10 or more minutes apart before it stays on.
I've relegated myself to the fact that I've gotten the value from my 2092, and it's time to replace it. That's my problem. I live in a small community on the eastern high desert, there's no slipping over to the audio store to check out the offerings.
I don't want to give up any of the performance I have. Unfortunately, working online mostly, I'm having trouble comparing specs from my 2092 with the newest crop of offerings.
I want to stay with Yamaha. I'm an old guy and have had a lot of audio/video gear from a number of different brands and have never even come close to what this 2092 does for me. Only thing I'd like added is HDMI.
I'm hoping someone can help me look in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
