What I find fascinating is that the master for this highly praised recording was done about 50 years ago. Says a lot for the advancment of the recording art in the interim, doesn't it?

that's all right. I'm always amazed at the clarity ofof the sound when I play "Louis Armstrong plays W.C. Handy", one of my all time favorites. It's from the same era although it's recorded in glorious mono.
