Finding the right speakers

Hi.
I've got an old Braun CSV 300 amplifier (1970-73) and am trying to find the right speakers which would give me the best sound possible out of them.The specs of the amplifier (as stated on the plate) are 110/220V~/50-60 Hz/130 W.Output Power 2 x 20 W. I know I can connect only 2 speakers to it.Can I put 4 ,( 2 front and 2 rear), just to simulate a surround sound.If not, then the front 2 will do.

You can put 4 speakers if you wire them correctly but you will probably not like the results, I personally wouldn't bother because it will no doubt sound worse than with 2 good speakers...

What do you want to spend on the pair of speakers you need? What are you looking to accomplish, just a clean stereo music listening system?

I recommend a set of mildly efficient bookshelf speakers. the problem with efficient speakers is they aren't very strong in the bass department, I personally would look into a set of m-lores http://www.tektondesign.com/lore-m.html for $650 you won't find better for what you have...

If you want any volume levels beyond easy listening I would concentrate on one pair of speakers with a sensitivity rating as high as possible. That would be above 90 decibles. This number is usually listed in their specifications. Keep in mind that this is no indicator of how they sound, only how much power it takes to drive them to a satisfactory listening level.

Since we have no idea where you are or what your tastes are, I suggest you check what's available to you first, or at let us know where you are.
