Fender Mustang amps = fun!

So my girlfriend bought me a new practice amp. It is a Fender Mustang 1, and is one of the digital, modeling amps. My first impressions were, 'nice toy' and 'hope she didn't overspend on this'. Turns out she got it for $85, brand new.

Gotta say, this thing is a hoot! I'm just beginning to play with the Fuse software which came with it. The possiblilities are virtually limitless. Fender has done a fine job with this modeling amp. It even came with decent editing programs, which I haven't even gotten to yet. Seems that the software alone justifies the cost of this amp.

Now I wouldn't gig with it at the tube amp afficionados gathering, but for a cheap practice amp this thing rules! I just can't put down my guitar right now! Except to post this. Now back at it...

I just got the exact same amp last week. It's pretty awesome. The Peavey Vypyr amps have a rep for having better metal sounds, but if you play around with the settings you can get great metal out of the Mustang too, and with much better clean and blues sounds.

I paid $100 for mine though! Where was it for $85?

She got it at a local mom n pop music store, used a frequent flyer coupon we already had, so it wasn't a smokin deal. Sticker was $99, which seems to be the prevailing price, both online and at the bigger stores. Still, for $100 you can't go wrong with this thing.

I bought one of those a while ago. It is pretty fun. I found some linux software that let you program it but I want to try the official software on my Mac one of these days.

Do it! I'm just starting to discover what is available, but with the added control and options I feel like a kid in a candy store.

I like that it lets you record over the USB interface.
