Father's Day Gift -- please help

Hi Guys,

Father's day is coming up and my wife told me that she wants to buy me something, but the budget is $250.00. I was thinking about getting an IPOD, however I would rather something for me HT room.

I was thinking about upgrading my DVD, as I currently own a 79.00 Sony and really wanted to upgrade that thing.

Question -- WHAT DVD to buy, I was thinking the Oppo 981. I heard great things about this unit, plus I want a unit that has a really good CD playback mode as well.

Please help me with this decision. I'm open to other units as well.

PS the most I can squeeze out of her will probably be 300.00!!!

In that price range the oppo is your best bet. It has great up-converting abilities plus its a universal player that seems to do well with everything that I have given it. I never hesistate recomending one for people who are looking for a less expensive but great quality piece of equipment.
