Paul Walker has died at the age of 40 from a car accident and explosion in Southern California, TMZ reports Credit:

Paul Walker has reportedly died at the age of 40. The actor -- best known for his work in the Fast and the Furious franchise -- died suddenly after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California, TMZ reports. The movie star died Saturday afternoon.

There's at least one report that Fast And Furious star Paul Walker died after a single car accident earlier today in Santa Clarita, California. (UPDATED: Rep has confirmed.)
It seems the speculation on the crash first started on TFW2005 forums:

So I work in Santa Clarita at an automotive performance shop and a good customer just came from Paul's shop, AE (Always Evolving) where they were having a car show. It seems Paul went for a ride in a guys Porsche and they ended up around a phone pole, the car burst onto flames and rumour has it Paul is dead. I hope he got it wrong but he insists it was Paul. I'm reluctant to post this being just hearsay, but the guy who informed us is a wealthy car enthusiast that just pulled up in his Maserati and nothing to gain from a lie, and has video on his phone of the burning car. If it does turn out to be true, damn... RIP Paul.

According to TMZ, who say they have sources on the scene, Walker was giving rides in his new "Porsche GT" when the incident occurred. The fiery accident reportedly happened during one of those test spins.

According to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal:

Spectators gathered at the scene, and several said the driver was the star of "The Fast and the Furious" series of films. One witness at the scene said he tried to put the fire out and recognized Walker inside the vehicle.

The crash completely destroyed the red Porsche Carrera GT that was involved. An assistant to Mr. Walker's manager could neither confirm nor deny the report.
The Carrera GT appears to be from Always Evolving, a performance shop that Mr. Walker is believed to be financially involved with. This is the car earlier today on their Facebook page:

The LA County Sheriff's department has confirmed to Jalopnik that two people were DoA in a collision earlier today, but haven't released names. TMZ reporter Ryan Satin says he spoke to Walker's representative who confirmed that Walker was really killed in the accident.

So sad and tragic. This reminds me of how James Dean died. He always seemed to be a very down to earth guy in interviews. The guy could act too.

I didn't like the F&F movies really, but I thought the kid was a decent actor. He was actually in quite a bit of stuff; just happens to be known for F&F. He was pretty good in Flags of Our Fathers. Multiple reports say that Paul wasn't driving.

A Carrera GT crashed a block from my work a few years ago. Perhaps they are not too street friendly? Same car Leno crashed at 200+ MPH on the track.

I liked Paul Walker, both the the F&F series and his other movies. I think his other work got a little over shadowed by the F&F series, but he was carving himself out a little bit of Hollywood nonetheless. I feel bad for his daughter and others he left behind, but in the end he forgot the golden rule of driving, it's a couple thousand pound weapon just like a gun or a knife. No matter how much training you've had, if you don't respect it and you get a little careless things can go sideways real quick. Hopefully some good can come out of this and a lesson can be taken away from it.

Paul wasn't driving according to reports. The driver was apparently a member of his race team who came in 2nd this year in the Porsche Cup series, so essentially a professional driver. It really doesn't matter which was driving or how/why it happened, they both lost their lives and that's sad.

It's sad, but when you do these kinds of things continuously, an accident will happen. A lot of us AH'ers like riding bicycles and motorcycles, and I bet we have all crashed those a few times. When you constantly push the limits, eventually the limits will win.

While sad, I'm sure he has no regrets, and luckily no innocents seem to have been hurt. RIP.

Sad, but anyone experienced with vehicles knows that in a street environment, anything can happen at any time. Even though they were experienced drivers, a cat, debris in the road, another car entering the street, anything can cause an accident. There may have been witnesses, but the situation may have demanded they go into hiding. They could have been racing as one report I read speculated. It's a high performance car that was probably modified. Doesn't take much to push the envelope in the wrong way with a car like that. A little oil from a clunker...tree sap...wet leaves...

A buddy about 10 years ago loved to do wheelies on his motorcycle. Then a woodchuck ran into the road during a wheelie. He dropped the bike and got off pretty lucky with a messed up ankle, serious bruises, and scrapes. He was limping hard for many months until his ankle healed.

In the street, anything can happen at any time. Usually to your detriment.

Ironically I guess, I happened to be watching an old Top Gear UK last night and one of the featured cars happened to be the Carrera GT. One very telling thing was they showed the Stig having problems with it on the track. They said it was a VERY unforgiving car and that a mistake likely meant it would get away from you.

One of the local shops races a pretty serious car. The owner said he met Paul and shot the breeze with him in LA and then let him drive his car. He said Walker was one of the nicest guys he's met. That car is a 800+HP Impreza L He said Paul scared the sh*t out of himself in that car.

Bill Beckwith, co-host of HGTV's home-improvement show Curb Appeal, died Monday after a fatal motorcycle crash in San Francisco. He was 38.

The contractor was identified as the motorcyclist who was struck and killed by a car in the Lower Haight neighborhood, near the corner of Oak and Steiner streets, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, police said. Beckwith later died at the San Francisco General Hospital.
The car's driver was a 30-year-old male who stopped after the crash and cooperated with investigators.
Beckwith grew up in Maine and graduated from the University of Montana with degrees in modern dance and English. He founded BB Design Build in 2001, specializing in cabinetry and finish work in the San Francisco area. He enjoyed kickboxing, yoga and martial arts, and also was a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
