1 Anthem D2 7 Channel 1080P HDMI A/V Processor 6,699.00

Awesome Pre/Pro

But with the format wars not over and HDMI. I wouldn't spend that kind of cash on a pre/pro until everything plays itself out. JMO :D :D :D

Listen to these guys!

As someone who is also building their first HT listening to the responses you've seen here is my best suggestion. They've already saved me thousands with their input.

Based on some research (and feedback from this forum) I have gone with the following:

Panasonic PT-AE1000U Projector: $3500 @ www.projectorpeople.com and comes with free Oppo 981HD DVD player

Axiom M60 speaker package for front, surround, and center channel $2600 (with mounting brackets and 7.1)

Dual SVS subs: PB12-NSD $1200

Carada screen: 118" for $900 (excellent value and performance)

Blue Jean cables for everything cable/wiring...great prices.

The performance is more than I would have ever expected for my 16x19 room and only cost $8000.

I'm new to the forums and to home theater in general, but have been an "audiophile" since my teens.
I'm a huge fan of Anthem equipment (had a CJ integrated for years), but they deserve well-designed floorstanding speakers to even begin to separate themselves from the cheap IC AV receivers.
And my cheap harmony universal remote may not dim the lights automatically, but it didn't need to be programmed by some guy charging me $65/input either.
If you've got $37k to spend on a home theater, heck, spend it. But I hope you can run from this dealer and can find one who will build what you want, not what he is trying to ditch.

How about a new SVS ultra sub, especially since the preorder price is good, and dual subs wouldn't be needed, unless that is it's gonna be needed right away.

I heard a theater recently with the phase technology dart system in it. It really blew me away. I think that for a dedicated theater room, you would be hard pressed to beat it.
